Some friends and I will be in Brattleboro at the end of November to see a swedish band called Witchcraft perform in town. We were thinking of maybe hitting Mt Snow the next day (friday, 11/30)

Now, I have not been to Mt Snow in nearly 10 yrs, but used to do quite a bit of early season skiing there when I was a teen. I remember a few veteran's day trips, and a few day after thanksgiving day trips as well. If my memory is correct, there was usually 1 top to bottom run like canyon, and one on the north face as well. Or more, depending on the year. What are the odds - last year's weather excluded - that there will be comparable terrain available this year?

book the hotel room or just forget the whole idea?

I say go for it. I suspect under the new ownership and the increased snowmaking firepower, they will have at least as much terrain open as you've seen in the past; likely much more.

I expect a decent amount of terrain open by then with the new management. Check out their snow report, they are hyping up their new snowmaking abilities and I think they will deliver. The surface conditions will come down to the weather just before your trip, so who knows what it will be like. You should be able to get a hotel on a weeknight in nov no problem even if you wait til the last day, so just play it by ear.

Yea, they're going to try the best they can to play up the 'Most Snowguns in the Northeast' as best they can, opening as soon as the weather lets them make snow that will stick.

Now I'm not one to spread gossip, but this one's too juicy: preliminary plans are to open our Canyon/Standard route as soon as possible, with Snowdance (now flanked by dozens of Super Polecat fan guns) a strong contendor to open soon thereafter. We were the first full terrain park in the East to open last season, and we plan on defending the title again this year.

Above is from their current snow report at http://www.mountsnow.com/snowreport.html

Another benny is they've had some REALLY good deals on hotel rates. 70$ a night ski and stay:

I predict that they'll be 100% open by the end of November...

OK, so maybe I'm suffering from some sort of lack of snow disorder. One can dream can't they???

There's a difference between dreams and dellusions of grandeur.

You say tomato I say tomato, same difference...

I guess that doesn't work to well without being able to hear the different pronunciations of tomato... ;) Use your imagination!

Would that be, lack of 'snow disorder', or 'lack of snow' disorder. :-D

I'm not obsessed, I just petition Greg every five minutes or so in the form of a PM, phone call and smoke signal.

Earlier today I changed mine back to the default so I can witness the transition and have a beer to celebrate. :daffy:
