Ha, Not a chance.
Remember the big Ice Storm of 1997. Bethel lost power for 8-10 days BUT Sunday River was up and running, fully operational in 2 days.
CMP caught a ration of shit but had to defend it biggest customer.
I remember that SR was still dark for 2 days straight. LBO sent the cats out nonstop during the outage, couldn't believe how awesome conditions were when I got up on Friday. Patrol said every trail has been tilled at least 3x!!

Got an email from Vail yesterday trying to convince me to turn on auto-renew. They don't give you any type of bonus if you do, so 100% not interested. Not sure why anybody would turn it on when you don't even know what the cost of the pass will be.
I didn't get the email so I went to my account page to make sure it wasn't turned on! :ROFLMAO:

I stayed in Dan D.'s Jordan duplex for a week, while keeping the two wood stoves going at our Bethel house.

We had 2 days of the whole place to ourselves before we technically opened.

That is like what 150 miles or so of cat tracks? 3 miles wide, 1,200' average Vert. All things considered: distance from NY and Mass, ease to get to, snow quality, etc. Sunday River is my favorite mountain. I often wonder why I never skied there when I lived there. I was hitting everything else.

Go work 7 straight overnight 12 hour shifts in the freezing cold blowing snow and get back to me with how many ski days you get during that timeframe.

It is the dirty little secret of the ski industry. They don't ski nearly as much as you think (even instructors).

work all night, ski all day… hasn’t changed in 30 years.

Cannon, Crotched and (I am sure) other ski areas allow snowmakers to ski/ride from gun to gun when they are on-the-job.

In my case, my relartionship with the ski industry is a hobby - not a career. As both a patrolman and snowsports instructor over the last 45 years, I managed to do more than 2,000,000 feet of vertical for most seasons since I had apps to track that sort of data.

But in general AdironRider is correct: If one is really trying to make a living in the ski industry, the higher one goes in the industry, the less time one gets to ski/ride.

what does this issue have anything to do with the Mormons? Its a problem at EVERY tourist area around the nation and definitely not exclusive to Utah.

My last employee housing situation in Utah I had my own room and bathroom for like 250 a month in a sweet house. Food, laundry detergent and all the basics included. Vail sucks at taking care of basic needs in the resort towns. I've literally seen people starve in employee housing its a modern day Grapes of Wrath

You guys are not up to date with the current housing situation in ski towns. This is not exclusive to Vail.

The 2 bedroom house I rented in Jackson in 2007 for 2200 a month was just listed in the paper for 18500 per month. Last I checked Vail doesn’t own Jackson.

250 per bed was long gone well before Airbnb and Covid. You’d be hard pressed to find that in Iowa let alone a place like Park City.

Settle down. Bad joke I guess.

I recognize that it's a problem in most all resort areas. Never heard of 10 people spending $1000 each a month to share a 1bed / 1bath apartment though. There should be regulations preventing that kind of crap. Kind of like how many college towns have regulations limiting the number of non-relatives that can live in a dwelling. Disgusting people who exploit others like that.

They are cut-throat business people who exploit “gentiles” all the time and only take care of themselves. It’s a blunt assessment, but true.

Besides that, yes, the issues are widespread among resort areas.
