this was my rationale for skiing jackson next saturday thru tuesday. i figure the holiday weekend may actually be less busy than a typical weekend. and by tuesday it should be a ghost town. then i'll be mid-week sun valley. then pow mow for a saturday - again a strategic choice as they actively regulate capacity. then trying snowbasin for the first time on Sunday. then pow mow and Snowbasin each once more. then finishing with very intentional Wednesday and Thursday at alta bird, which i expect to be quiet unless they are pow days. i could audible to any ikon so bcc and dv are in play too i guess. i am so stoked.
Enjoy Snowbasin. Do the Olympic downhill course. And be amazed at the most beautiful restrooms ever in a ski lodge. Hell, I thought I was at the Ritz Carlton.

That was just amazing. It’s refreshing not to be repulsed at a ski area restroom. We had lunch at The Overlook and sat in a perfect nook surrounded by windows. Lodge was over half empty. I guess I’ve never skied anywhere with such nice lodges but never skied Beaver Creek or Deer Valley. View from the table below.

Nice bathrooms are something I've grown to appreciate over the years at ski resorts.

Doesn't have to be Snowbasin level, but how people "like" run down bathrooms like MRG and the infamous trough I simply don't get.

My only real complaint about skiing Gunstock the past couple of years is their bathrooms are fit for a truck stop and there aren't nearly enough of them.

And yet if the state or federal government wanted to come in and build say a Federally Qualified Healthcenter or some type of homeless shelter/halfway house on a similar piece of land, often the P&Z committee looks the other way and those proposals sail right through. Definitely not saying that those types of facilities aren't important (they are for sure!) however the hypocrisy at times when one project from a private entity that would benefit the "underserved" (very broad term there for sure) is looked at in a vastly different light than a government backed project that would also benefit the "underserved" you've got a problem.

I am sure that there are about 1001 examples of similar instances where who is proposing something or the political ideology of someone doing the proposing often becomes more important to the entity that has the ability to approve or deny a project than the benefit to the community that the project would bring. Not say that any and all projects should get a rubber stamp approval, that would create some problems for sure, however any board that has the ability to approve or deny something should also have the ability to put their personal biases aside and make a judgement on the project on it's own merits, and that unfortunately isn't happening on many fronts these days
They aren't looking the other way. In most states, municipalities are exempt from local zoning.

Welcome to Utah. We don't want any of that Devil's Salad around or you getting too liquored up on strong beers, but you can have as many wives as you like and we will even import some sucker South Americans that you can make a fortune off of in rent! Oh yeah, and soon we will be porn free! We are wholesome, God fearing people!
The difference between hypocrite and heretic is in the belief system of the State. It becomes more evident as error grows...

The most religious are always the worst. No exceptions.

Hard to believe the religion came out of Vermont.

I don't have a problems with the Mormon religion, it's no different than any other religion in my mind most of them are fucking weird stories.

I do have a big problem with the church/state orgy that goes on in Utah amongst other places. I'm always happy to see east coast people take over out there even if it fills the canyons

combo of people skipping last weekend for cold and next weekend being blackouts i would assume

FWIW...I'd say this was one of the least busy Saturdays at Sugarbush this year so far. ME was downright empty this morning. Looking at the webcam history at LP now it doesn't look like that was even too bad most of the morning.

So I'll go back to thinking it is odd that Stowe and Okemo were sold out for today as of Thursday...

Might be people actually understand weather conditions more at SB than Stowe and okemo?
More locals?
It was probably pretty good for a few hours...wish I went.
Amazing what a few inches can do..

lots of disgruntled employees at Sneaux. hours to employees and services to skiiers have been slashed at close of business today 2/12. i guess when you lead with $20/hr, your labor costs end up being the same when you shut down the season prior to president's weekend.

i.e. cuts to Carinthia lodge services - Iron Loft closed for the season today.... no hot breakfast meals at any food service areas resort wide... cuts at Sundance Lodge, which they committed to operate 7 days a week... Bull Wheel / Summit lodge food offerings reduced/eliminated ... J1's promised 32 hrs a week and those hours haven't been met - all ahead of the Feb break. Lots of other rumors floating around. Lots of final pictures with teams being snapped at 3:30 today
