Wildcat and attitash have been pretty dead this year. A ton of local people and second homeowners jumped ship after the past couple years disaster. I suspect they'll slowly come back in the next couple years. Then again I'm not out on weekends so Maybe the crowds show up then
Amazing that you can now buy the epic day pass including those two resort for as cheap as $41 per day and $48 per day including holidays. Haven't seen those prices since the 90s.

The HSQ at Attitash should help bring some people back

More than that, the anemic snowmaking efforts early season need to improve.

Probably third on the list would be restoring Cats season length

Yeah. As much as I don't want to give money to Vail, I'll be buying a couple day passes next year. 1 to check out Attitash new HSQ and the other two introduce my kids to Wildcat.

That third one is a big deal with me. More so in the spring than the fall. They need to run one mtn early and one mtn late for each region and wildcat should go till may in a normal year but vail doesn't give a flying fuck about people like that. This was a big issue out at kirkwood as well...everything else was doable but shutting kirkwood with a 100plus inch base is a fucking crime. Other than extending a week to appease is they probably won't budge

Damn I didn't even know this product existed. For that price might have to pick a few up to force a trip to Wildcat or Attitash. If I understand correctly it can be used for any day next season (depending on which level is bought for holidays)?

Yeah, they don't advertise it well. One day each at Attitash and Wildcat with two kids for $191.95 total. I just pulled the trigger.

Yeah I didn’t know about the Epic Day pass either. $175 for the cheapest 4 day version, which gives you all the NH mountains (but not VT). Tempting.

Attitash was spectacular this morning. My first time back in a couple years. It was good enough that I found myself forgiving their abhorrent operations last time i had a pass and actually considering an epic midweek for next year.

Then second run after lunch the bear quad broke. No idea what happened but two chairs entered the terminal maybe a dozen feet apart. Best guess one of the grips slid or a chair got stuck in the top terminal?

I get that shit happens but it was typical vail - no communication, no consideration and rather than open kachina the options were hike to abenaki or wait for a shuttle bus that held maybe 15 people.

Ikon is a ridiculous $110 per day at any of their resorts for a 4-day pass.

"Spoken like a true believer. That is so Epic!"

I have two Epic day passes that I still have yet to use this season. I'm increasingly leaning towards hitting this next storm at Mt. Snow, then doing some Stowe/Cannon spring skiing in mid-April.

Went to Sunapee last minute today. The total neglect to make snow on all but the core roots was cashed in today. Bumps all over on normally super boring cruisers. All glades open with soft snow. Might have to go again. Screenshot_20230310-194421.pngScreenshot_20230310-194352.pngScreenshot_20230310-194343.png

Can anyone figure out if skier visits are up or down at the resorts they owned last year? Wildcat seems less busy this year and that seems to be the general consensus for vail areas across the country. I'm speculating the 3.6% increase is due to adding the three PA areas and Andermatt.
Many MWV locals have just given up on The Cat & AT. Race teams looking for better places to train.
BW, Cranmore, Pleasant, Black & King Pine ALL ahead of last years #’s.

And it has blackout days. The $439 4-day Ikon pass is a pretty poor value considering you can get an Epic Northeast Value pass for $555 which gives unlimited access with no blackouts to Wildcat, Attitash, Sunapee, Crotched, and their Pennsylvania areas, plus unlimited access with holiday blackouts for Mt Snow, Okemo, Hunter, plus 10 days with holiday blackouts at Stowe.

Yep. Also don’t discount the big effect of “backyard snow”. People in MA when they have snow in their yards they want to ski, when it’s warm out their figure the mountains are the same (even though they usually aren’t)

There is data on this. Wildcat sent a total of three kids to u12 champs this year. Attitash sent 16. BBTS, loon, FSC and ragged all sent ~20+ kids. BWT, KP, Cran - all single digits.
