I have had an Epic pass for 5 years and I don’t think I’ve spent a dollar on anything other than my pass. I was going to buy a water for my daughter one time at Attitash but they were offering free waters so that worked out wonderfully for me.I think that one interpretation is that people buy the Epic pass, use it, but are not so keen to buy food, drinks, other items. Vail’s model was to use the latter to make money. If everyone is skiing/riding but not buying then no money.
Had some $6 Mac and cheese today and a couple of $8 beers at Whaleback. Actually the fiddlehead rep bought my son and I a couple of fiddlehead pints!I don't give Vail any money either besides the pass. $18 chili or $14 beers just doesn't make sense. If beers were $7 or so like they were not long ago I'd go in to warm up and have one or two. No longer. Pocket food works, if needed. I did get a quick edge and wax at Crotched for like $12. I thought that was reasonable when needed. Now, at an Indy resort, I'll often grab some f&b. Black, NH had $4 PBR's last year.
Me too. We usually do apres at Bromley at the wild boar. When at Snow, at the most we go once a year. Last year, we did go to Iron Loft at carinthia on a Saturday for my birthday in early Feb - Vail had just announced lay-offs and closing down carinthia f & b for the remainder of the season. This was before the Feb school break, We ordered apps, mutliple drinks and they handed me a bill for $18 total. I tipped them big, all in cash. That's me!
Thinking Whale tomorrow. I'll give them some business inside if we end up there. Nice on the comp!Had some $6 Mac and cheese today and a couple of $8 beers at Whaleback. Actually the fiddlehead rep bought my son and I a couple of fiddlehead pints!
You can get chili cheese fries for pretty cheap as well. Don’t know if they have them in the East but they’re only 6$ here18 for chile?
With epic its about 14...only thing I eat there.
when they return to the corporate office every single one of them would recomment selling all the eastern resorts!

It’s getting up there in years. I like that side of the area.Super Condor lift opened today, and I was on it within the first hour or so. It stopped 3 times going to the top & I'd say our "stopped time" totalled about 15 minutes or so.
There have been various rumors for why it hadn't opened this season given it services a lot of important terrain (not enough snow, too few workers, avalanche risk (i.e. too much snow)), but now I'm wondering if there's something wrong with it like electrical or something. If so, it sure seems like many Vail properties are having various lift problems. I'm just thankful we didn't have to be lift evaced, I was starting to get a bit worried!
