Are snowborders still banned there?
Do they still basically have no snowmaking?
Do you have to stand in line for up to an hour on Saturdays to ride a slow single chair?

Most ski areas take their lumps here in AZ land, but never this place.

I'll be enjoying those hour long waits on Saturdays twice next season. I'm pretty pumped, haven't been to MRG since 2000-2001

MRG has taken plenty of lumps here. Mostly from snowboarders who are angry with the no snowboards policy, but there's the occasional bashing of limited uphill capacity, lack of snowmaking, and/or antiquated facilities from the clueless skier as well. I wouldn't say they get nearly as much bashing as say Killington or Okemo, but to say they never get any kind of negative press is just inaccurate (IMHO).

BTW, they do, of course, rule and that's a big reason why they don't get bashed too much.. :p

Snowboarders will always be banned at MRG..as long as the co-op keeps voting the way they do..they only have snowmaking on the practice slope and basebox..and yes on busy weekends during good snow periods liftlines get close to an hour on the single although less on the double..so if you want to ski MRG...go on a weekday..

So you have to be clueless to think that you have to have snowmaking to have consistent good conditions in the Northeast? Let me tell ya something big guy I got a clue.

 I knew that would get someone going...

Mission accomplished. :p

MRG has had decent conditions every time I've went there.

I just want people to talk about skiing. Do you ever go to Misc. and read those threads? I mean to each their own and all that crap, but it is a ski forum.

It's hard in the off season. I racked my brain, but I can't think of anything to start a good thread. It's like everything has been said before.

I am stuck home today and I am kinda bored.

It's okay HPD, you can't have winners in all your thread ideas. ;)

Seriously, you need to get some credit for at least trying to start a new skiing thread.

IMHO HPD starts more interesting skiing threads than any other AZ member.

Interestingly enough, the Single is one of the fastest fixed grip chair in the east from what I understand. As capacity increases, regulation for haul line speed decreases. And even with a full queue, the lift line is never an hour long. Then again, I don't ski MRG on Saturdays during the regular season so you can sure knock MRG for long lift lines on busy powder weekends. And as a shareholder, I am perfectly fine with that limitation and avoiding the place on busy Saturdays and enjoying it on less busy days. No skin off my nose if someone knocks MRG or suggests it doesn't take enough blows on the chin for its faults, but you gotta keep it real.

Me too. More than decent actually, although I've only been a few times. Skiing MRG is all about timing. Anyone that goes there after a recent thaw/rain-freeze and is then disappointed with the conditions is an idiot.

IMHO HPD starts more interesting skiing threads than any other AZ member.
