Heading to the ChicChoks with some friends for a few days of hut skiing...

When are you going? And are you staying at Mines Madeliene by any chance?

...And yeah back to the original thread:
-Having a MRG, Jay, and Cannon pass
-Not having to deal with 128 ever again while going skiing
-Sunapee bumps (on pass)
-Skiing some harder stuff on Mt. Washington (Dodges, dutches, pipeline, etc)
-Touring a bunch
-Going out west after both semesters for almost a month (a big maybe)
-Breaking a 100 days. (shouldn't be that hard as long as school doesn't get in the way)

I am most looking forward to the unexpected and exploring more of the unknown. To pushing myself further and harder and finding unfathomable joy and satisfaction in the least expected places. Leaving myself open to possibilities and ready to be amazed by the shear serendipity of finding myself in the right place at the right time. And finally to sharing those experiences with others because my best days last year were rarely enjoyed solo.

Actually skiing.

I had injured my knee back in January, and took the rest of the season off.

My son (Iceman) said to me the other day he's looking forward to seeing me out on skis this season..

So I started working out the legs, and doing the knee exercises so I can fulfill that wish (otherwise I'd prolly just injure it again if I stayed a marshmallow/couch potato)

Plus cardio.

For me:
- Progress from a middle of the road intermediate to a high intermediate
- Overall improvement in the bumps
- More experience/confidence on steeper terrain
- Trip to Tremblant
- Long weekend in the MRV
- Skiing with my wife. I missed her last season.

I forgot one. Hopefully skiing with 25 - 30 less pounds on my frame. I hide it well.

Utah 2008 w/ AZers and others...
Racing (hopefully Nationals in Steamboat again)
The making of my 2008 ski movie...each year I get a little better at it.
Something to REALLY look forward to every week to help me get through the work days

Make sure you have good inner layers and/or stock up on the hand warmers. Several years back, I lost 15 pounds. First time out, I was freezing, I got cold in temps in that never bothered me before. I heard that this usually happens to people who lost weight, the fat insulates and keeps the body warmer, with it gone you have to find another way to keep warm.

Thanks for the heads up. It is a problem I hope to need to address. ;-)

Gotta lose that post-baby weight?

 So true. Not only did I put on sympathy weight, people kept sending cookies and chocolate as gifts. I was happy when the presents shifted from sweets to fruit.

I love the fall when it starts to cool down, the air is so crisp, and has that fall smell to it. Then the first frost.. Which, of course, leads to the first snow fall! :snow: Then finally the first time clicking in for the season.

There's so many other things that I love about skiing and winter in general, it's too much to list.. Just a few...
  • Pulling up to the ski area and not only seeing the snow guns in action but hearing that glorious noise.
  • Checking ski area websites to try and see when they're going to open.
  • Skiing with my wife again (missed two of the last three years for the same reason as Grassi's)
  • Improving my technique, especially in the bumps.

Skipped the most important one. Looks like I get to ski a bunch with my wife. Daughter can just hang out know if she does not want to ski. No more 1 parent watch children one ski. I was rarely the one sitting. Son will be off in a seasonal program.

I want to: get my 4yr old daughter skiing off the leash this year.
get better at racing, consistently get golds and hit platinum a few times.
ski Berkshire East and Magic as new areas, hit the MRV, take the bump class and get a few days in a Sugarloaf.
lose 10lbs+ so I don't need new ski pants.

Yeah, forgot to add to the list...

more skiing with my daughter

trying out my new mogul skis

been stuck at home with a lot of maintenance work, so just a two hour drive up in the mountains sounds like fun right now.

Always the sign of a true skier/rider; couldn't care less how they look in a bikini, or pair of board shorts over the Summer, but totally inspired to get back into last year's gear!
