For me, the only ski area that I've skied that's now on the NELSAP list is Brodie. How about you?
I guess I should probably add Haystack to me list as well...

Hey Charlie--what did you think of Temple?
I used to ski Temple all the time while I was in College. Very small mountain but it had nite skiing and it was close to campus.

Was it a decent place to ski?

I enjoyed skiing Temple Mountain as a chaperon for an Elementary School Ski Program from 1989-1991.

For a SOUTHERN NH mountain with northward facing trails it was fun... the layout though was wacky, the lodge was up higher than the lift base(s) but the parking was below the lift base(s) so you had to walk across the trail(s) to access the lodge.

Although nothing in comparison to the large resorts, it was fun with nice old style trails and glades, very similar to Pat's Peak as far as pitch & typical trail length.

I live about 15-miles away from it and drive by it when I head westerly on Route 101...they have taken down the lodge and I believe the lifts are gone as well...a few no trespassing billboards are up, making it perplexing to hike the Wambac Trail…

It was bitter sweet to have Temple close and see Crotched (Onset) Mountain open within a year of each other... I’ve heard stories of local kids "earning their turns" there the last few winters...although not a spectacular area, it was a teaching mountain…get a quick baker’s dozen runs in after lunch any day…it is missed by the locals around here...

High Point was in Dix Hills (at the time was probablly still Huntington) on Dix Hills Road just north of Route 110.

Thanks vtskibum.
I figured it had to be somewhere around there. I used to sled in the hills off of Straight Path all the time when I was a little kid. We had a couple of good spots. They were a blast.

Lost areas?

I have enjoyed Brodie (especially green snow on St. Pats day.) and I also used to make runs at the original Magic. In fact I recall a monumental wipepout and slide down the main slope which was incredibly bumped up at the time. That had to be one of my longest slides ever! I haven't been back since they reopened it.

Well Temple Fans, got my ticket in hand here still :)wink:)

Actually found these at the ski area's remnants last fall while hiking the Wapack Trail. I'm :( to see such a cool place close.

As a kid, we used to ski Pine Top in Rhode Island. I recall it had a couple of T-bars and maybe a couple hundred feet of vertical.

King Ridge, New London, NH. The parking lot and lodge are at the top of the mountain. I remember a friend of mine driving his car all the way to the bottom down one of the ski trails.

At Killington, the now-defunct Northeast Passage part of the mountain with short-but-steep trails like Nor'easter and The Judge. A great spot to hit in the afternoon on powder days. On days with crappy skiing, we'd also ski down to the Back Behind Saloon for cocktails.

My wife grew up skiing Whittier. She was only about 20 minutes away in Moultonborough, NH.

I drive by this place and wish it was still open...looks like a cool place to ski.

I skied this in March 1999, one of, if not the last, season it was open. Too bad too...nice terrain over there and an 'outback' kind of feel. Now one would have to dodge snowmobiles if they tried to ski/ride there

Isn't someone trying to redevelop this place as a winter sports center or something?

Southern NH, work or in the Mountains
I've skied King ridge, Highlands,Whaleback and Mittersil(from cannon but not while the lifts operated)

We used to have some high school races at the highlands. The GS course started at the summit and was about 20 seconds long. It think the salomon cources might have been 45 seconds. No wonder they went out of business.
