I contend that snow is everything.

Without it, you're pretty much fooked.

Umm, no. But then temperature and access to water would be everything. We don't really seem get enough snow on this coast anymore to open trails without snowmaking. I don't think I even selected snow, because with snowmaking, it doesn't really matter if it snows or not. Snow is turning more and more into a "nice topping" for manmade snow. :snow:

True dat----but when that topping does show up it sure is fun!!!! But you're right---doesn't happen near enough.

Explain to me how one can snow ski without snow?

(I was being facetious in that first post. It was meant to be taken very literally.)

Considering the way he phrased it (to make sure it insulted greg), and how many complaints he's made about people disagreeing with him/not liking him, I thought it was deserved.

Not sure if you intended to or not, but I believe you just reinforced what I said.

Sicks and stones brah, if you don't like his posts, you think he's full of BS, then show him for the fool you believe he is by countering what he says. If you can't then don't play the "Nobody likes you take", that's middle school. Also, Greg can defend himself just fine, if he let himself go he could be quite the flame warrior.

I was agreeing with you and at the same time venting a little at all the Seinfeld type threads (threads about nothing) that seem to be infesting the board the last couple of weeks. I’m still waiting for the “While skiing which hand do you scratch your ass with?” thread.

However, as Greg has pointed out several times, I’m a grouchy old man.

I selected Terrain, Proximity, Snowfall, and Value... but they are of course weighted MUCH differently depending upon some factors. Terrain and snowfall are the most important and I think snowfall trumps all or else I would get a season pass at Mad River instead of Jay Peak. Proximity is important but even though Cannon is my spiritual home and has the terrain, Jay gets my season pass due to snowfall which opens the trees up significantly more than Cannon. Value is least important out of my top four as I will pay more to get more. But all of my favorite areas I have value deals through season pass, mad card, discounts, etc.

Yuppers. Coming full circle, this I guess is the main reason why I'm not a big fan of places like Magic, as you need about 6 feet of natural snow to be able to ski a place like that without destroying your skis, as they don't make much snow. Whooping and hollering in glee on a powder day kinda ends abruptly when I bottom out and hear the dreaded grinding of base on rock. Therefore, even on a powder day, I prefer skiing at main stream resorts, because I know there's a 3 foot manmade base underneath the powder I'm skiing. Some people just don't care about their skis, and that's fine for them. I like mine though. Magic, during a ridiculous snow year and the biggies nearby are lined out in to the parking lot? Yes, lets go. Otherwise, I'd sooner pay for some snow to ski on, and faster, newer, safer lifts never hurt me either. :snow:

You must not ski Northern Vermont much if you don't think it snows enough to open trails without snow making. It might not matter to you if it snows or not due to snow making, but natural makes my world go round, and powder days happen a lot more often than most people realize in New England.

Sorry I missed a few options like vert and length of season. If any of you knuckleheads think you can do better, then start some threads of your own.
;) (kinda...)

And I didn't mean you, HPD. You are the king of interesting topics.

Nooooooooooooo! You should never do that! The aluminum transfer from the pole is the leading cause of poleon cancer!

It does explain why so many people posted that they sit on their polls while on the lift, tho..

You've yet to answer one question that's been asked at least a few times; Have you ever even been to Magic?
