What's the closest ski area to you that you've never been to?

I know I'm missing out, but I can't handle another 350-footer right now. I need my vertical fix. I'll get there.

350?

ha ha we wish!

You need to tie in your visit to the goo with a stop at one of RI's finest restaurants.

Those we got, 350 vert skiing?

Maybe Pinetop was almost there but it's been closed 30+ yrs.

King Pine for us. It is so small, I doubt we will ever go there. But.... Sometimes, we just need a fix and maybe.....

I love King Pine! Milt's Place and my kids all around hanging out with their ski buds.....some of my best ski memories ever!

Little known fact if you can stay in the fall line making tight turns on Pitch Pine you have serious game.

Steep. :flag:

I knocked off Nashoba yesterday. BH is closer, but this is probably second. The best that can be said is that the place has gravity. Still, in 50-degree temps, slushy snow, not a bad way to spend a couple hours.

It's Yawgoo.

Best conditions in at least 10 yrs....now is the time.

Conditions were great there last Saturday. We skied there on the holiday weekend and had fun. It's small, but we needed to knock it off our ski areas lists! It was my 62nd mountain and 12th state!!

We skied about 4 hours, non-stop. Think it was best that we started right when they opened, the afternoon got more congested and started to get a bit skied off.

Yes, that's what I meant. Where is Mt. Peter? Maybe that's closer to me. I have skied Sterling Forest, Camp Gaw, and Mountain Creek, so those areas are out.

Mt. Peter is in Warwick, NY on Rt. 17A, the same road that Tuxedo Ridge (Sterling Forest) is on.

Their site says they're an hour from the city.

That would be it then. It probably would still be the closest where I live now (NYC), but I grew up in Rockland County, so then it's very clearly the closest.

Are you on a mission like me, to rack up the resort count?

Not really. It's always in the back of my mind, but I simply scored a few freebies to Nashoba, wife was sick which meant no long day-trip for the weekend, and it was 50 degrees and sunny, so figured, why not?

Cranmore. Looks like fun too, but I hate the whole route 16 thing.

Well from my childhood in Maine, Saddleback. Now living in the Upper Valley there is a large selection of what I have not gone too. The closest being Stratton, Okemo, Ascutney, and Sunapee. Of course the list is actually much larger as having a pass to Killington for the past 4 years has made me go the smarter financial route and sticking with the pass.

I live in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley and love to area-hop. Over the past seven years ( = my return to skiing after 20+ years away), I've managed to day-ski at just about every area within a 2.5-hour drive of here. Even managed a one-day round-trip to Snowshoe WV which is more than three hours away one way.

The closest two I haven't visited are Hidden Valley PA and The Homestead VA. Both are about 2.5 hours away. It's been difficult to think about HV when Blue Knob is closer and Seven Springs is next door. For The Homestead it's a matter of costs, distance and the counter-intuitive idea of living in Virginia and driving 2.5 hours further south to ski.

One of these days, though....
