Belleayre made snow. Even Jiminy turned their guns on this weekend at night, but I haven't heard of any snowmaking at Hunter? What's the deal? dmc?

Hunter doesnt need to waste $$ on snowmaking now - they are pretty realistic when it comes to weather - and I think they don't feel they have anything to prove.....

Plus they can cover top to bottom in a day or two...

They also never seem to buy into the early season open thing.. They always say - "we'll drag the hoses out at the beginning of November and start making snow when there's enough of a cold period.."

I know there's a staff meeting tomorrow... I'll know more tomorrow night... The wather doesnt look all that good for snowmaking in the next week...

Thanks D. Probably a smart move on their part. BTW, I'm a Hunter pass holder now so hopefully we'll get a chance to make some turns this season.

I think this is a wise move by hunter. It's going to be too warm and sunny in the catskills this upcoming week to hold any real snow pack. It would just be blowing snow for the publicity of blowing snow. besides - the hunter crowd isn't that concerned with pre-thanksgiving/middle of december turns.

Huh? Speak for yourself.

I agree it is a good move by Hunter...anything they blew this past weekend would have been toast by the end of the warm spell. But this Hunter regular cares very much about making turns ASAP.

And I think I speak for just about every other Hunter regular out there.

Well I would imagine that you and JimG are a bit more fanatical than the average skier at Hunter, or any other resort for that matter. ;)

We have a very large contingent of really hard core skiers and riders at Hunter... You'd be suprised...

As it has been said many times there are ways to get around the crowds. My favorate method is to go on a Tuesday, but staying away from the quad will do.
