Maybe a skier is someone who dedicates a good portion of their time, money and energy towards the pursuit of skiing enjoyment. If you have passion for the sport and pursue it as part of your lifestyle you're a "real Skier".

i think that;'s the answer i was looking for...

i read through my post...

i think my original purpose for it was lost in how i put it out there...

there's been, for a while now, a tendincy for some to say that there is no room for the "real" skiers, or a mountain doesn't care about "real" skiers... and yet, i see a lot of people loving it, making a life out of it, or even wishing they could make a life of it... so i wanted to know... who are these people... and after reading through the posts... i dont think any of you were concerned about "real" skiers because you've been busy being skiers.... it's at this point that this post is getting stupid and i'm sorry haha.

I fail most of these.

7 - We own two.

You own two Jeeps. Tell people: "Your SUV is not a Jeep and my Jeep is not an SUV."

Interesting thread. And now I get why it was started. :spread:

If you don't understand #9 thats kinda funny to me. think about it greg you'll get it.

I thought it might have something to do with the Bob Marley Express, but I couldn't figure it out. I'm glad you find it funny.

this may have already been discussed, but i'm wondering...

Who are the "real" skiers?

Back country purists? courduroy shredders? bumpers?

maybe i'm looking at the question wrong... i read it like, who is the skiers' skier...

to me, the skiers' skier would encompass all aspects of the sport.. king of the mountain style. Big mountain, into some gates(2 tops, skiers skier remember) then bumps / trees leading into park and pipe, followed by some apre in the lot... not in the lodge.

i fully believe that the people claiming to be "real" skiers can't do a switch 5 of a medium kicker. I fully believe that they can't shred a mountain face, and pop it around backwards at the bottom to hit a log jib. i believe these same people to talk a lot of internet trash and not prove otherwise on the hill...

To me, the claimers of "real" point out a simple truth... there are aspects of the sport they have yet to master.

so... response i'm looking for i guess is, what defines the "real" skier and how do you fall short?

myself, i can't race... never could... please, never tell me where to go. i won't like it.

They're the ones sitting at the bar talking about everything except how good they are at skiing.

A real skier is anyone who is out enjoying themselves regardless of their level or favorite aspects of skiing (trees, groomers, bumps etc).

Real skiers can be on alpine skis, tele skis or snowboards.

Real skiers ski/ride in control and within their ability level, so as not to endanger themselves or others.

Real skiers make the best out of any ski day regardless of conditions.

Real skiers think that "snowboard bans" are ridiculous (as Warren Miller said, if Snowboards had been invented first, there would be mountains that banned any of us with two silly looking things strapped to our feet).

Real skiers are always looking to improve their ability.

Real skiers are respectful to everyone on the hill and will help out others if they are in need on the slopes.
