I reckon I'll need a new pair of skis for next season. I put a major beat down on my current sticks.

My "A" deck is now trashed after 2 Tucks trips...

Going to be picking up another Never Summer...

Ha, nice.
My flagship skis got destroyed with a little parking lot puddle skimming action. I'll see what I can come up with this off season.

My boards get F'd uup at Tucks... And not from the actual riding - it's more from where I put it on after a climb.. most of the time perched in rocks - praying I dont fall... Last thing I think about is my base digging into rocks and stuff...

Yeah, funny how concearn for material goods disppears when you're faced with the possibility of physical injury or death. Ha.

And I always insist on bringing my best deck there too... I want to be on what i know works...

I'm set for now, but my son needs to get bigger skis and boots and my wife may buy her first set of skis -- I think she's finally getting tired of loose rental boots. :x

I would recommend that you rent boots for you son instead of purchasing a new pair. Kids outgrow their shoes so fast that it is not worth it to spend a lot of money on them. The same goes for ski boots.
We rented ski boots for the season for both my son and daughter and it worked out well. This way if their foot grows midseason you can go back to the shop and get the next size up for them.

I agree with ty. :D WE use to do season rentals with ski fanatics in campton. Know we buy our kids stuff and switch it out every 2 years we get 50% back in credit towards a new purchase. When they are young or just starting out season rentals offer alot of flexibility.

i used to do the season rentals from REI it makes life a lot easier...the season rentals seemed of a lot higher quality too IMO

Well, I think I'm all set except for a new pair of poles... either I shrunk or the poles grew. :-?
Got a new pair of Nordica GT-S8 boots at the start of the season which I love. From day one, they never gave me an ounce of pain. And in March I purchased my 1080's which rock! Getting the 1080's (with Look bindings) are prolly the best "ski purchase" I've ever made. I LOVE those sticks! Bought them a couple of weeks before my trip out to Tahoe last March. Got them on sale too. :D
The only other thing I may purchase are footbeds for the boots, but honestly, haven't really felt the need for them.

Custom footbeds are probably the most important skiing purchase you will ever make. If you've never had them before, your skiing is about 50% of where it could be if you had them. You will never feel the need for them unless you get them, and then you will wonder how you got by without them.

Trust me, you need to get those footbeds!

Superfeet are pretty much the standard as I understand it. Here's another thread on footbeds:

I'm sure there are different needs and ways of meeting those needs when it comes to good foot alignment. I leave all that to my bootfitter; he's the key, someone who is a real pro.

I use Keith at "The Pro" in Hunter. Once he started fitting my boots, my skiing reached levels I previously had only dreamed I could attain.

Great guy...
Cool.. I will check out his shop next time I am up. Its hard to find a good bootfitter.

Yes, all you folks are right about the footbeds. Everyone's been telling me that. Well guess I'll go for it next season.
So, my skiing will improve with my footbeds?
Well, I did feel like my skiing improved this year with my 1080's.... just felt I had more stability underneath me rather than my Atomic C9's (I know, totally different ski).

Without question, and I rarely say that about a piece of equipment.

After you get those footbeds and make a few turns with them, I guarantee you will not be able to comprehend how you got by without them!

Skiing will take on a whole new direction, you will reach for things you never felt capable of before...in a way, I envy you because that burst of enlightenment can be almost orgasmic.
