I always put in a reservation with Enterprise/Hertz in case Turo has issues. Can cancel it for free so you aren’t left high and dry.
Does UPS have a new estimated arrival? If not better hope they didn’t lose or damage them.

yea, they are meant to arrive tonight, and the delay was attributed to severe weather, and jackson reported an unexpected 13" the same day. it tracks.

the skis either left commerce city colorado for casper wy and then turned around, or they are in casper waiting to go to jackson. either way, i don't get in til tomorrow night and i don't ski til saturday. the skis should arrive timely. my apt building has a very fun casino night and i won an apple air-tag, but it was the day after they shipped. i would have liked to drop the tag in the bag to keep my own tabs on its exact location. we also won $100 of dry cleaning and a $200 maid service. we were like the only ones who cash tipped the croupiers and when it was time to convert fake money into raffle tickets we got way more than we were meant to. we also won a keurig machine and a google nest home pod thingy, which we declined. we were embarrassed when we won like 5 of the 15 raffles.

if they lost it the first time i used a shipping service i'd lose my shit. i insured for 1500 which covers the skis poles bindings but i didn't even think about the clothes, avy gear, snow boots, and cannabis in the bag that would easily take the declared value >2000

Smart sending the weed with that.
I think you’ll be fine, as long as they updated your delivery date then its still coming (used to work for UPS).

i took two seperate half ozs, broke up the larger nugs, so that i could lay all the weed in the bag flat so its the shape of a book. then i vaccuum sealed. then i took the two paperback book sized half ozs and put them in a new box of honey nut cheerios, in the actual bag of cereal. then i used the vacuum sealer to reseal the cheerios, and then i glued the box top back together, and i put the cheerios in a tote bag with other random grocery items, at the hardest to reach furthest from the zippers area of the ski bag.

flightaware.com lets you see the chain of flights/planes leading to yours. my plane comes in from Miami tonight and chills at newark til 5:30 am, so at least i am not dependent on some west coast red-eye getting to ewr on time

my built in jewish anxiety is raging out of control as i start my last work day before 13 ski days and not going back to work til march 6

- frantically refreshing the ups tracking on my skis which were meant to arrive yesterday but got delayed
- my connecting flight is thru Chicago and they have a winter weather advisory and ice and a little snow tonight
- so i am already looking at alternate options in the event my flights get fucked up, and mentally preparing to pony up $$$
- mildly worried about the logistics around turo, tho not that worried
- mildly worried about having to land and then first do a 4 hour drive to jackson, tho not that worried

overall tho, pretty fucking anxious, and i don't think i will feel ok til i check in to the hotel in jackson and reunite with my skis. i have a meeting at 10 and then it is xanax and gym o'clock. gotta get this feeling outta me
All good brother.

Just remember - you got a lot of ski days ahead of you. If something gets fouled up, and you miss a half a day. or even a day, it's all good...plety of time on the snow coming.

Enjoy.

Spring skiing in February. Wednesday was warm and the snow loss was visible as it was occurring. Started off the day with trees and there was decent coverage in the woods that I skied in the morning. By afternoon the thin and bare patches increased with each run. Lots of sticky snow too. Thursday was that rare day that it was warm and cold. The eastern side of the resort was frozen and not good skiing. The western side was soft and there were areas of total mank. Tried a few tree runs but the snow was sparse and sticky. Turns out the natural bump runs like Vagabond and Northstar had the best skiing. Praying for snow we need it and soon.

Travel was fucked. Canceled flight. Rebooked thru Philly. Like 18 hours of travel motion. But jackson rules as I remember. Today was meant to be a warm up on the apres vous side but then I wound up on thunder in tower3 chute. Waiting for a tram now to end the day.

Makin’ lemonade out of some serious lemons. Awesome tracks.
Yea, Philly involved a $180 Uber and caused me to basically be awake for 24 hours. My 5:30 AM Newark fight was canceled as I was about to go to sleep at 9 PM. They tried to rebook me for Saturday, not Friday. I called and all they could do was Philly > Dallas > SLC at 5 AM. Instead of going to sleep and taking a taxi 15 min, I stayed awake and took a 90 min taxi at 1 am and sat awake in Philly airport til 5. Kinda slept on the flights but meh. Then drove 5 hours to jackson. This redneck dog charged at my car in nowhere idaho. If I killed this dog someone would have killed me. I don’t complain about the long hauls but my lower back was screaming at me for the last hour into jackson.

Yesterday I was in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, utah, idaho, and Wyoming.

All is very well now tho.

26) 02/19/23 - Jackson Holy, WY - Well, well well. Today was a day. 7" overnight brought Jackson Hole to life and the skiing was primo. My new gym habits finally really paid off as I managed to hike the Headwall all the way to the Crags Shot 9 and hardly missed a beat and managed 40k of steep nonstop powder skiing from 8:30-3. It got pretty choppy all over the mountian by the end of the day, but there's a lot more snow coming in. Last night my favorite dj/producer (four tet) and a few other dj guys played a gig in madison square garden, that was only announced 4 days ago, and sold out instantly. a lot of my friends went. i had some fomo last night/this morning. after skiing today i have no fomo about missing that, tho a full on rave in madison square garden sounds like a lot of fun. pics coming in a min from my phone.
