Tomorrow should be sweet. Ketchum is cool. I got upgraded to a suite with a living room and a fireplace. This is too nice for me. Unfortunately only 2 nights here. Wood River Inn in Hailey ID, recommend

this place is completely ridiculous. Wednesday and Thursday were mini / sleeper powder days. 2 car wait on tram, ski on lifts. Tram is addicting.

31) 02/24/23 - Sun Valley, ID - 10” storm total and the bluest sky I’ve ever seen. I worked all the bowls and trees methodically. Excellent day.

32) 02/25/23 - Powder Mountain, UT - PowMow is fun and chill. It’s “sold out” and there’s hardly anyone here. The ski to bus terrain is fun. I didn’t bother with the snow cat ride bc there’s lots of untracked lines available without paying more. Lifts are slow and there isn’t big vertical but it’s a fun little place.

Pics are from the sun valley stunner

So, Belle got an unexpected 3" on Wednesday and I was stoked to get there Thursday since another 3" was forecasted. Nope. When I checked the conditions report Thursday morning, the snow turned out to be rain and everything iced up for a delayed opening. First time this season I was ready to just give up and hang my skis up for the season. Just fucking tired of hearing about all the snow everywhere but in the east.
Anyway, I decided to go Friday instead and give my new Kore 93's a good test on rock hard frozen groomers. I was happy to see an all-out snowmaking assault when I arrived. There was plenty of rock hard frozen cord which my new skis just ate up with glee, but there was also plenty of man made powder as well. Belleayre Run was blasted top to bottom all day and the bumps on the headwall were just perfect. Seneca was also under the guns top to bottom and was silky smooth and fun to rip. Fixed my bad attitude pronto. Skied from 10-3:30. Great day!
I used to rag on Belleayre, especially their snowmaking. In the past 2 years they have won me over completely.
Heading to VT Mon Tues, K picked up 8" this week and more snow on tap for Mon into Tues. Dare I hope?

33) 02/26/23 - Snowbasin, UT - day started very tracked out and variable in a bad way. It began snowing heavily and surfaces improved but visibility suffered and I’m new here and don’t know the lay of the land. I soldiered on tho because last turns of day were sweet.

34) 02/27/23 - Snowbasin, UT - 14” storm with 12” overnight. Snowing heavily. Giddy up.

At Burke. Snowing well and filling in. This is a good day; Burke is a great mountain, damn, I could ski here full time.

Although I was a little bummed I had to ski yesterday instead of today when it snowed, conditions were exceptional. The weather was sunny and pretty mild but not warm. All of their snowmaking terrain is deep. Great bumps on Winnisook and Belleayre Run. The bumps still need a little skiing in but the lines were pretty sweet regardless. Off to Killington tomorrow and Thurs.

#65 today. Best Eastern day since maybe December 23 2020, thank you school for giving the kids a snow day, woods were damn near bottomless. Very good in the NH lakes now with hopefully more to come this weekend.

4 Ikon, 3 Indy, and a day paid for by a few-year -old Cow Card at Wawa. With the goings on for me this year I'll be lucky to get 4 more days. Ikon and Indy will be making money off me for the second year in a row. Hopefully next year I can right the ship and hopefully mother nature can do the same.

Definitely jealous of you guys that have been getting west during a historic run out there!

35) 02/28/23 - Deer Valley, UT - Plan was to hit Alta or bird but I woke to find huge snow totals and closed canyon road. Not a surprise, but when the estimated opening changed from 8:30 to 9:30, I pulled a hard left on 80 and jetted to deer valley. After a mess of traffic getting up, I was on a lift by 9:20 and skied hard til 4:30. Skied the shit out of the place. It skis like Sunday river or killington but bigger and with more mansions everywhere. A good choice for visibility too with lots of sheltered tree skiing. Great pow day. 20” in 48 hours with 15” of it coming overnight.

Currently in queue on little cottonwood waiting for an 8:30 road opening. UDOT hints at midday closures. Hoping I don’t get stuck up here. Have a full tank of gas and all of my things, since I’m checking into an slc motel tonight. A forced night at the Alta Peruvian wouldn’t be the end of the world!

Should I go to Alta or snowbird?
