PS - all the utah spots are losers compared to Alta bird. This place rules so hard. I’m at bird cruising freshies and putting down some big lines.

Should I go to Alta or snowbird?

After a few trips out there I really started to lean towards Alta on powder days. Snowbird opens their good stuff frustratingly slow after big storms (I know it's not their fault...its just how the topography is) whereas Alta seems to have more of their good stuff open a lot sooner.

Definitely wish I were at either one right now. Lol

I parked at snowbird and skied both and it was so awesome. One more day tomorrow. Park at Alta since I only did Collins and wildcat today. I really love no snowboarders. At dv and Alta. Pics are just after mineral opened

Great day at Killington today. 100% open and the conditions were the best I've seen this season. Skied nothing but naturals today, Snowed in the afternoon but some mixing now. Will be here tomorrow too and I think the skiing will be good again. Chance for a foot more on Friday. This is more like it!

I skied 8 days in February, all solo weekday mornings at Mountain Creek except for one Sunday at Mt. Peter with my wife and daughter.

Just did 4 days in a row at Cannon-Burke-Jay-Burke. Conditions up there are fucking fantastic. Doing a 5th day at BW tomorrow which should be mint. Can’t even feel my legs.

When I went to bed Wednesday, it was snowing; when I woke up Thursday it was drizzling. 3" down overnight then drizzle. I was pretty pissed sitting in my car upon arrival at 8:50. But I just went out and skied. And even though the weather sucked to start, the skiing turned out to be good. High elevation trees escaped too much wetness and the snow was very good. The light was fantastic and I repeated that several times. By noon it started to dry up and the skiing between 1-3 was good everywhere I went. A net gain event with more snow on the way.

just updating my list. commentary on alta/bird above. alta/bird and jackson are truly first class expert ski areas.

only note i will add is that i hit my 1,000,000th tracked verrtical foot at alta. this is the fewest ski days to a million vertical i have ever achieved, and i attribute this 100% to being a gym person now. having the fitness to go all day long is really great. my average vertical per day is about 28,000

Saturday was a powder day, Sunday was leftovers. Great to get to Magic with snow so hit all the faves sat am when the double blacks still had great coverage. Actually having confidence that there would be snow dropping the Ledges on black magic is rare. For me at least

5) 12/28/22 - Jay Peak

13) 1/27/23 - Bousquet
[went to Florida on the best weekend of this damned season]
16) 2/5/23 - Catamount
19) 2/12/23 - Killington/Pico (skied the interconnect)
20) 2/13/23 - Killington
22) 2/26/23 - Berkshire East
24) 3/4/23 - West - 10" fresh snow, a bit on the wet side but a great day nonetheless. ROTD The Cure, that trail skied absolutely incredible all day. Overall that mountain is pretty flat but there were no crowds and conditions were great. I'll take it over giant moguls on every trail after 9 AM and 15 minute lines.
25) 3/5/23 - Gore - Wow. Might've been best day of the season. Great snow, light crowds, and a good mix of groomed, ungroomed, and glades. ROTD is a tie between Hawkeye and Barkeater Glade.

Certainly been a great week! Starting with Ski Free night at Black where the East Bowl glades were full of untracked powder. 33DB1AA8-7322-4203-9088-BD545F189CB0.jpeg4DE734C8-AD58-4954-9C90-3F771E5576C0.jpeg

Sugarloaf Friday was about as good of a day as you’ll get there… a bluebird day after receiving over 2’ of snow all week. Best day for me on the East Coast this season for sure.

And then Tenney on Sunday was right out of a dream… A ton of new snow and nobody was there!

Now off to Jackson Hole for the week starting tomorrow! Current plan is to try and ski Snow King after we land. Then a few days at Jackson and a couple days at Grand Targhee.
