i was at solitude yesterday, 6 apr 23, beautiful day, #41 for me, but at 3pm i caught an edge trying to speed along the flats below headwall forest. went down hard on left shoulder, xrays showed no break, but sprained acl. i'm sore and in a sling. i'm out for a week, maybe more, depends on how it heals.

like @Kingslug20 i saw a great deal of ski patrol work & bombing for avi mitigation this day. God bless all ski patrollers!

blurry zoom of two patrollers working high above honeycomb canyon at soli. standing on 50 foot cornice, two bombs went off nearby later, triggering small slides. honeycomb never opened on 6th

me (old guy) and 2 friends, patrollers are on peak to right near little white airplane streak, click on photo to see them closer

thick snowpack on roof of moonbeam lodge, soli got about 5 feet from apr 2-5, pano photo - will expand if you click for closer look. soli was partially open for skiing on 3rd and 4th, closed on 5th.

snow mostly powdery, esp in shady woods, warm-up coming apr 7. there must have been some kind of compression effect (and skier traffic) because on apr 6 it skied more like 10" new, not 5 feet new, even in the offpiste.

That runout defeats the purpose of even going over there IMO, especially with dense powder. Headwall Forest isn't really worth it. Learned to just stick to Powderhorn.

I went to Waterville and backtracked south bc maine was an obvious wind issue today. Hoping for saddleback tomorrow
Wind was strange at loon today. 8 started on wind hold, felt like it was going to blow off the mountain when it did open, north was near calm.

Wind was crazy at Waterville today. Really seemed to screw with their bubble lift. Surprised it stayed open all day.

Yup no fun to be had today at sugarloaf. Hoping for a good day at saddleback

Yep. I am scrapping northern maine and choosing between Sunday river and killington for tomorrow. Sunday river is close and I think will be south enough and low enough to warm to corn. I don’t have faith in that at loaf or saddleback.

K is a sure thing I just don’t think i feel like driving 2.5+ hrs first thing in the morning. SR is 35 min down the road. I think it will be a good move. They too have their skim and live music

On the couch today...figure it's better to muss a crowded Saturday and rest the ribules...then hit it Sunday monday...
LCC...still closed...
But at least the mountain is open for those stuck up there...

Hope your rib injury is manageable!

Since I mostly ski Snowbird I guess it's not a bad stretch for me to rest, take some time off, and get over recently sprained shoulder. I have a buddy coming to Park City in about ten days and I'm hoping I can at least ski groomers with him then. I haven't skied PC in three years. Is the snowpack so super deep over there that there should be no problem with coverage 10 days from now?

It's the deepest in history...There is quite a warmup in progress but I think there will be plenty. Some of the woods have so much snow in them..they looked downright scary..
Not a place to fall in...
