Couple more Indy days. Weather and conditions were definitely better today out of the two days.

Day 89...Park City. The serious warmup has begin. And because it's just begun...no corn..just glop. I missed the sweet spot by 1 week. I caught the last 2 powder days..which I really couldn't take advantage of due to pain..now...glop.
You really need 1 full week of freeze thaw.
Runout here can be a mile or 2....slooow going. Try to stay in the shadows...

Look at it this way. I’m going to my dumb job tomorrow and would give anything to trade places with you.

A lot of people say that...but I did 26 years in NYC...breathed in enough toxic shit to drop an elephant...construction dust was the worst...my lungs took a big hit..so whatever time I have left..I'm going to make the most of it. Lost 7 friends and relatives this winter..some didn't hit 60...
As soon as you can retire..do it.

Funny thing is...I've been on this board over 20 years..and have only skied with 4 people..Greg used to have the summits so that was different. I bet a ton of us have sat on chairlifts right next to some of us and never knew it....

Friday was cloudy, chilly and windy. Frozen groomers mostly; steep bumps were frozen. Low angle bumps on Wanatuska were decent.

Saturday and today both started out cold and icy but by noon the sun worked its' magic, everything corned up very nicely and the bumps were awesome.

Belle is open this coming week. I spoke to a few snowmakers and there was talk of trying to stay open to the end of April. The coming week's warmth will likely scuttle that plan but it's nice to see the effort. Took my last ride on lift 7 today. Next week it will be demoed to make way for the new lift 7 for next season.

Made 50 days for the first time since 2018-19.

44) 04/07/23 - Waterville Valley, NH - backtracked from gorham to stay south where the corn was more likely to turn up. pretty decent day. place was empty so got to lap the 6 pack serving a pretty fast 1700 vertical over and over. lots of wind, was actually surprised the chair never went on hold. i chose waterville bc i knew they had fixed grip back ups all the way to the top. soft bumps in the late afternoon

45) 04/08/23 - Sunday River, ME - nixed sugarloaf/saddleback plans, again worrying about the temps not warming enough to corn. sunday river was a decent choice. groomers skied beautifully from the jump. naturals on the correct aspect skied beautifully after noon. 46k vertical which is my highest for the season. one of the tamer/lamer pond skims I've seen. not a great run-in. too many kids. not enough hot doggin.

46) 04/09/23 - Killington, VT - stunner of a sunday. the warm day of the weekend. southern facing slopes skied great from early AM. northern facing slopes never truly got soft so i didn't bother with ovation and lots of killington peak terrain, but bear, south ridge, needles, and the right runs down snowdon skied great. loved the island hopping of the quickly rotting (now probably rotten) royal flush. glorious soft bump run on OL to finish the day at 1. didn't want to leave but love getting home by 6 on a sunday to ease back into the week

Day 55 @ Killington

Haven’t posted in this thread in a while but hopefully going to hit 60 days (previous record was 51)
Killington still has a lot of snow so mid-May will be easy…we’ll see about Memorial Day though. Hiked to the summit and did Catwalk a couple times, did Anarchy, Julio, Somewhere, Nowhere, ect and stopped at Coopers for a visit. Love being able to ski the woods still with good coverage. Even though it didn’t hit freezing last night the snow wasn’t overly sticky or gloopy.

i forgot to mention that at waterville on Friday i saved a child, which is so not something i would typically do. skiing alone i came across this boy maybe 8-10 years old on a particularly icy and moderately steep blue (it was top of tippecanoe i think). he's on his butt. his skis are off. he's crying. and he's in the process of using a walkie to contact dad. i got him up, got his skis on him, introduced myself, got his name (milo), and told him we're gonna ski down together real slowly and use our edges a lot, and we can sideslip and not make turns if we need to. got him thru the sketchy section and we slowly skied the less icy groomer down to the bottom. gave him a pole tap, told him he's a good skier, and said 'now go find your parents' and left him at the base. uncle mode activated. not dad mode. uncle saves the day and is then like 'now go fuck off'

Nice day at Solitude...
Hi Jaytrem, I was at Soli today too, 12 Apr 2023 for day 42. Hurt my shoulder last Thursday so just zoomed the groom today from 9-1pm. The place was empty! I might have seen you if I knew what to look for. I might return Saturday.
Me and a buddy:
