Busy weekend so was only able to get out after work Friday from 11-4. Don’t think I missed much before that as conditions were just starting to soften up when I got there. Certainly a good amount of snow loss over the week but just about everything was still skiable besides Nitro and Winters…. Misery Whip, Gondi, and Bubblecuffer were still excellent and spent most of the afternoon lapping them.

im still planning on getting my 50, probably this weekend, but i also got bored and booked almost my entire next season of hotels. which i realize is insane.

everything free to cancel til last minute and no payment til check in.

not pictured is late February, because i booked a few separate western itineraries for late February a few weeks ago.

this was just yesterdays bookings. mostly in rutland and white river junction, which i find central enough to ski wherever more or less. xmas has reservations in tremblant, waitsfield, near sugarloaf, and gorham. mlk has rutland and gorham.

Day 65 this past Sunday. Think I am done. Have weekend events I can't miss down in the flatlands the next 3 weekends. Washed all of the ski gear and put Summer wax on my skis before I left my condo on Sunday. They can always be rewashed and rewaxed if need be.

Day #90 - Great day at K today, weather belied the forecast, bright sun with just enough clouds to keep the surface firm between bumps.

Great afternoon on the mountain! Didn’t seem like there was that much melting over the past week other than around the base area and bottom of SQ. The moguls on Gondi were incredible. Not sure I’ve seen it bumped up like this in a while, wish we would see it more often and earlier in spring. The glade to the right of Gondi was skiing really well too. Toss up between Gondi for run of the day or Blade Glade (narrow chute to right of Nitro) to Wedge. Also this time of year the 3-TBar line is generally fair game. Skied it a couple times. Makes for a great ski trail combined with the DR West line. Not sure I’ll get another day in before the Loaf closes but I’m not putting the skis away just yet.

Beautiful pics @LoafSkier19 . Love those bright green springtime pines.
I'm heading up to Snowbird tomorrow morning. Supposed to be 80 degs in SLC. Hoping for some fun turns in the AM hours before grabby slush. We haven't had much of a spring out here. It went from winter to summer in about one week.

55. 4/28 at Sugarloaf.

Similar thoughts to Loafskier - great day. The quantity and variety of terrain was fantastic for April 28. I started at 845 with the carvable groomers and moved quickly to the ungroomed, following the softening. Blade glade to wedge was ROTD for me and lapped it several times. Pipecleaner fun but even in the afternoon it was a little stiff due to the shade. It is amazing the breadth of mountain you can cover from just Skyline - the stuff over in King Pine was fun, you just had to make sure you headed back to Skyline soon enough.

And that’s a wrap for my season. After today I don’t really feel like making the K drive just for Superstar. 55 days is a PR by quite a bit. Most of my days were at Sunday River but I also had memorable days at Saddleback, Sugarloaf, Steamboat, and A-Basin. As always I am just so happy to have this sport in my winters. Now, on to biking.

Some pix to add to Loafer’s:

Great pics! The King Pine side has held snow surprisingly well this late in the season. Misery Whip especially. Been fun to ski the whole length of it for a change with the ropes taken down where you normally are forced to Ramdown or Flume.

And I mixed myself up, the chute right of Nitro is Cant Hook. Blade is the glade before getting to Nitro.

You’re locked in by UDOT until 5pm I hear..::
We only skied from 9 to 11:15 AM, then bugged out. Snow was good and pretty fast until then, but I'm sure it got grabby and slow later. Sort of a quick "the mountain is my gym" type of ski session.:)

For those who don't know, the Cottonwood Canyons are still messed up with avi danger. These spring access road closures for BCC and LCC are really getting impactful. I know it's for our safety, but wow:

Road Closure Alert Little Cottonwood Canyon (SR-210) will be closed on Sun. (4/30) at 9:00 a.m. with no estimated opening time due to avalanche hazard. The road will be closed from the mouth of the canyon to Snowbird Entry 1/Gate C, travel above Gate C is allowed. Follow @UDOTCottonwoods Twitter or Instagram stories for updates.
Road Closure Alert Big Cottonwood Canyon (SR-190) will close on Sun. (4/30) from 12:00 p.m. — 5:00 p.m. and Mon. (5/1) & Tues. (5/2) from 11:00 a.m - 5:00p.m. due to avalanche hazard. The road will close from the mouth to Cardiff (MP 10.7), travel above Cardiff is allowed. To enter/exit the canyon, traffic must be below above the mouth and below Cardiff Fork at the posted times. Follow @UDOTCottonwoods Twitter or Instagram stories for updates.

It was a real fine spring ski morning! When I headed down the hill around noon I heard Shakedown Street by the Dead on the radio. that's when you know it's a good day:)

I hit 50 days today. I went up early to Snowbird. Their spring hours are from 8am to 2pm. Cinco de Mayo was not nearly as nice a day as yesterday, and was mostly cloudy with frozen granular/dust on crust type of conditions. I didn't go off the groom at all during my three hour morning visit.
On a marginal visibility day it's always nice to see some light exiting the Peruvian tunnel, this is 8:17 AM this morning:
tunnel exit 5 may.jpg

The pros competing in the Woodward Peace Park didn't really get rolling by the time I left, but there was plenty of talent skiing around the mountain.
This is off Chips Run low on the Peruvian side, he was part of a freestyle team lined up towards the left in this photo:
