Looks like a Jay pass for me again this season. Combined with a new pair of AT boots and it is like getting two season passes to the same mountain :spin: Any one else besides BigJay and I going to be pass holders? Frequent visitors? I skied alone a lot last year and would prefer to fix that problem this season.

The new lodge is being completed for/during this coming season which should be a bit of a different face to the Tram Basin area. Looking forward to a swank new bar with a mountain view! I absolutely never stuck around Jay after skiing in years past and thought the Golden Eagle was perhaps the worst ski bar in New England that I have visited. Might even be worth the drive over from Stateside after skiing or dare I say I might even park at Tramside a time or two this season so I can enjoy a post ski libation in a comfy bar overlooking the mountain. About time.

Can't wait for early season powder and early season slacking. And my exploration outside of lift accessible areas needs to be stepped up considerably. I think I should also make it a point to get on the tram more than one or two times this season too. Hard to believe, but I still have never skied Tuckerman Chutes.

Here is to a 400"+ season.

It's very doubtful that I'll get to Jay this season, but if I somehow I manage to pull off a trip up there I'll look you up. I really need to ski that place one of these days, though it sounds like I should improve my tree skiing first...

Not at all. Well, it wouldn't hurt. BUT... Jay has some of the easiest trees around. Stateside, Beaver Pond, Hells, Timbuk, North, Expo, Buckaroo, etc. Great low pitch mellow glades. There is no better place to improve your tree skiing skills, IMO.

I'll be up there a few times. Didn't get a pass this year because I bought one for Sugarbush last spring, but next year will definitely be Triple Major for me.

Now you make me want to go even more. I need some work in the trees, since I hardly ever get to ski them.

maybe a day. Duke's are good motivation for catching a Big Jay day

Wish it wasn't 4 hours from me.

Will be there near the end of the season (April 1-4) finishing up the boys spring vacation there. Kids ski free. How do you beat that?

After a hiatus from Jay last year, i'll be back for some of the goods, but no season pass for me. I'm really getting the itch.

Of course i'm back for a 25th consecutive season at the mountain. This year will bring a whole new perspective for us. Our house will be just in Jay's backyard so we'll have the convinience of being close to the Belfry and have great beer selection from the Montgomery Center convenience store... First time for us on this side of the mountain so we're pretty stoked about it.

So far, the biggest news i've seen on the Jay website came like a bomb. There's been talk about it for a while now. I know a couple people made the drive this summer to plan it all out. It's in the making and this could bring a whole new spin for the mountain!

Now, take a breath: http://www.jaypeakresort.com/#/growingup/

Go on the page and check out the upper right corner...

That's right it reads:

Proposed Mountain Bike Trails

Oooooh yeah! That for me is the best news in a while! Outdoor sports at the mountain during summer have been lacking for years and now they're bringing it back.

Great great stuff!

This is where rivercOil complains that the design aesthetic of the hotel and ice rink isn't an authentic representation of northern VT.

Definitely heading to Jay this year. Maybe spend the weekend. Last time I was there, I was the only one on the hill at -35F. I've never done Big Jay (mainly because I usually go solo) but, if there's someone to show me around, I'm up to it.

10th year for season passes this year.

Was at Jay last weekend. Lots of construction going on. Bad news is that they are losing parking with the new construction. Good news is that with all the dirt they are excavating for the hockey arena and adjacent parking garage they are making the stateside parking lot bigger.

Actually, from what I have seen of the hotel in pictures, it seems fine. I am more concerned with hotels the pretend to be authentic Vermont. One reason I like Jay is that it is anything but pretentious. Ski areas in general are anything but authentic representations of Northern Vermont except for community run areas such as LOC and the rest of them.

what about all trees at sundown ... :)

I'm told there's actually some decent trees around Sundown, the problem is getting enough natural snow to make them skiable. Not that I would ever ski out of bounds... ;)
