NYC, nothing. Good, its hard enough to walk around without getting run over by a sliding cab.

Smithfield RI (15 minutes outside Providence) got about 3-4". I didn't expect much more, but it looks really pretty out now.

fwiw, the clipper system might be news for southern areas of the northeast, but the mountains will be getting their due over the next two days and nights. upslope snow coming in behind! fingers crossed on this one, the current weather events are hopefully just a tease.
Talking about jay getting a foot. Sugarloaf 3-6.

The wind is now howling... Should make for some good drift action later today - if I can make it out

We got 6-8" by my house near Poughkeepsie.

I decided to go to Thunder Ridge last night for a few hours of night skiing. The snow tapered off early afternoon, but then at about 3:30pm it started dumping snow and that continued right up to the time I got to Thunder Ridge at about 6:30. I hastily booted up and hit the massive vertical of at least 250'.

In 2 hours I managed to run about 30 laps, each taking less than 5 minutes. It's a small hill, but a few of the steeper pitches were open. The snow was delightful, about 6-8" on top of scrape and ice. It was nice to see some cold smoke following me down the hill.

One of the steepest pitches actually had some bumps on it, albeit oddly shaped ones with little rhythm. Making smooth decents down this run really got my feet moving, especially as the fresh snow gradually turned to scrape. I ventured down a few "thin cover" areas as well as a few closed and unlit trails. Amazingly, I rarely bottomed out and did no damage to my skis.

After 2 hours I packed it in and went home. As small as Thunder Ridge is, for $15 that was a crapload of fun!

Hey YardSaleDad, were you there? Didn't spot you.

While you're doing your small mountain tour, feel like heading out to the mighty Ski Sundown tonight? 2knees and I are going to be rocking the bumps...

I'd love to, but I'll wind up sleeping in my shed if I do.

Hunter Monday, night skiing last night, Hunter again all coming weekend. My wife is pretty good about accomodating my addiction, but I doubt she will take it lying down if I try to slide another trip in tonight (go ahead, insert whipping noise here).

Sorry, but tonight is going to involve a bottle of wine in front of the fireplace and whatever else develops after that.

LOL i hear you on this. I told my wife she could take off saturday and saturday night, no babies, and go up to boston to have a night out with her sisters. All this for 3 hours at sundown. You do what you have to!

We got there shortly after 5:00 PM. If you were wearing your trademark yellow jacket, with the hood up, on the bumps with your kids, at about 7:15 PM, then I saw you from the lift. My son had already decided it was his last run. By the time we got off the lift and skied to the bottom you were not in sight. :(

Next time when we get more

Plattekill got 10" plus the 4 the other day. Of course I'm going somewhere else, but Whiteface is getting hit now and will keep getting some until Sat night. If I where you guys I'de hit Plat. The bumps should build up pretty good.

Sick day at Smuggs today...

Knee deep pow in most of the woods. There were spots where it was even thigh deep. And all the lifts were open - unlike Stowe and Jay. The only problem was that it was mobbed - probably the most crowded I've ever seen it.

It snowed all day and wasn't stopping when we left at 3:30. Round 2 tomorrow.

Yup, that was me. I was back again this past Saturday night with my 3 1/2 year old after a full day of skiing at Hunter. He LOVED it.

was at hunter on sunday 3/5.

strange day. was hoping to catch the remmants of the thursday storm. weather was great-bluebird day and temp at or just above freezing. there was a wind which was blowing the snow around though. snow conditions were good and coverage was pretty good on even the most highly trafficed trails.

unfortunately, it seems like the entire west side was closed which i wasn;t expecting. i was a little surprised to see glare ice and boilerplate. and lots of bare patches.

all in all, a good trip and hopefully not the last for the winter.

Yup, top of Clair's was pretty icy and I'm sure patrol just didn't want to extricate fallen bodies from the fences or woods. But there aren't alot of bare patches, just alot of ice.

Wayout was open and you could access Clair's about halfway down by skiing across work roads. Snow there was delightful.

i did 1 run on wayout. it was good.

but on the chair ride up, i was looking at the trails to the right under the other chair and it looked like they were a little bare and icy. those were the trails I was hoping to do. do they do snowmaking and grooming on them? or is it because they seem to be west facing, they catch the most sun.
