Don't knock Crystal it is a great place to ski. But unlike other places it is really a commuter mountain. Crystal is located in the middle of a Park and there is NOTHING build up around the mountain.

People who ski there really commute an hour from Seattle for day trips. In fact they only sell single day passes. Skiing there is in the middle of nowhere and you really can't compare what is done there to other mountains.

Crystal is not the place to knock. The passes are expensive, but they have always been expensive and every penny is worth it. I ski at Crystal every weekend plus get a 10 day free ski vacation at Big Sky (no lodging but lift tickets) That is about $700 saved right there. Crystal has gotten huge improvements, 2 new six packs, a beautiful midmountain lodge, a high speed quad, and more out of Boyne in just 10 years. Considering they were bankrupt before being purchased by Boyne, I am a fan of Boyne USA.

Because your condo at teh top of Wildcat is inhabited! :flag: Seriously though, the person was referring to Crystal Mountain, which is near Seattle and is owned by Boyne.

jerryg, I think snoseek was referring to crystalmountainskier's post:

Boyne we assume refers to Boyne Mt or even Boyne Highlands in Michigan. :D

Oops, I meant Big Sky which is equally sick as Crystal. No I have never been to Boyne Mountain and never plan to. I would suggest you guys get passes at Sunday River or Sugarloaf and come out West for a week or two and ski for free! (sort of)

Maybe he can pick up Squaw in Greenville and turn it around like SR. That place has a lot of unrealized potential and with Moosehead right there can really become year round resort. The Plum Creek development (whatever form it takes) will likely bring a lot more people up that way as well.

I am kind of shocked and disappointed myself, thought the Otten/Cook/LL Bean group was a great fit. There were plenty of press alluding to this deal including the article about Warren Cook going to the local town officials and basically telling them he was considering buying back the Loaf.

Oak wasn't hot on selling to the guy that essentially got them into this mess in the first place.

Can't blame them for that.

Sorry guys but I couldn't say a thing about what was going on until it was announced.

Let's just say LBO isn't a happy guy right now.

I don't know what LBO's offer was, but it does seem like a big FU towards him.

daaaamn!!

Yep! I skied 3 days at Crystal this year and it was sick.. It is a really fun mountain and I had a blast there. Most gorgous views of any place I skied. You stand on the top and can look to your right and see Mt. Ranier, beyond that a sea of clouds (with Seattle below) and in the distance Canada and the Olympic Mountains. If you look to your left there is Mt St Helens and the snow capped Cascade Mountains. Absolutley stunning!

Day pass there are only $54 too.
