They did start to make snow last night. HBK, Belt and Wayout....long way to go, but cold temps for the next several days...but rain, finally, in the forecast for next week.
Those automatic guns on Way Out and Clair's could be a game changer, if it means they blow enough snow to open the West side early in the season and keep it open consistently. Actually crossing my fingers. 🤞

Also the perfect, non-stop, midweek, top to bottom super g route of choice.;)
That now has a lift tower you have to go around to get to Kennedy. I just looked at the webcam and realized this! Also there is now a fence by the unload area of the new B lift. And there is no padding around the lift towers yet, so they won't be opening to quickly. Besides it is 50 degrees today, and the next 5 days and then rain. Seems like a waste

I always look at these early season marginal temp snowmaking efforts in the following way, even if it all melts out before some decent cold gets here and allows a full push to opening, the snowmaking crews, of which I am guessing there are likley a few newbies on them, got some real time training working in the dark on the hill with each other, and that is always a good thing when it comes to the safety of the crews

The top looks like they had good production I bet that won't all melt out. I also agree with DrJeff. Practice makes perfect!

Since Broadway no longer exists on the trail map you may need to come up with a new acronym instead of HBK

Personally I don't need to do anything as I haven't even skied Hunter in years. :) But I suspect locals will still continue to call that route HBK...

So why are you here then?

I had no idea you were only allowed to comment on a post if you regularly ski at said area. That's going to eliminate an awful lot of posts from people on this forum...

hopefully both....tried to get inside a few days ago - curious if the "indoor gutters" that ran through the kitchen were still there, or at least emptied.........

How can you accurately comment on something you know absolutely nothing about is all I'm saying!

Was my answer of what HBK refers to wrong? No...it wasn't. I didn't say I've never been to Hunter and know nothing about it. I've been there numerous times, just not recently.

They have separate hours listed for north side tomorrow (closing at 330) so I expect they will have Belt and Way Out open as well as Hellgate on down for opening day

North always closes at 3:30. I don't understand why they do things that way if they ever want to get people to park over there on the regular, but it's always like that. If it's spinning, they'll have to have a trail leading to the bottom - probably Overlook?

Right but they specifically list its opening day hours which sounds like they expect to open tomorrow. I expect Way Out as they planned to install automated snowmaking on that trail last summer

Is that when they close the lift or when they rope off the trail? I like to park down there, but don't want to deal with rope ducking if I'm running late. Thanks!
