Is that when they close the lift or when they rope off the trail? I like to park down there, but don't want to deal with rope ducking if I'm running late. Thanks!
They rope off the trail, and threaten to take your pass for a month if they catch you ducking it.

so = opening day SS to top them all off.

1 way down, 2 lifts. Wet guns all over. crashes everywhere - helicopter was there before noon.

Not sure how many people fell down the terribly designed stairs you had to take to get up to the mountain. Steps are not wide enough for your foot - steep, just insane. The fence they put up did seem to keep the ski farm from forming, however, most were 1 and done.

My daughter and I enjoyed very much opening day, having also done the general public opening day at Belleayre two weekends ago. Lift lines were under 2 minutes most of the day, got close to 10 minutes briefly around 11 so we took our lunch break then and they were back to under 2 minutes when we got back out. Conditions started real nice but of course deteriorated a bit with ski traffic and things were bumped in spots and scraped in others by 11, but we handled it all well for 9 runs before calling it a day at 1. Clearly some of the lower mountain only folks were in over their head once Kennedy bumped up, but novices should know to stay clear of blue terrain in Catskills.

Was disappointed they kept a lid on how limited open terrain would be until that morning, and that they kept the guns blowing on the route we were skiing, but patroller I rode lift with explained they were doing so to limit the adverse impact that the traffic on one route down had on the quality of the surface.

Delightful having free breakfast wraps and hot chocolate handed to us when we arrive.

Yep that's going to be a problem when someone crashes down those.

Odd that their trail listing no longer shows Belt Parkway as a trail. They now list “Belt Parkway Byass” which I guess is that brief route you get to if you turn right off Flyer

Eastside is missing also, I mentioned that to them yesterday they didn't know. Let's see if they correct it.

I'm noting it now lists Empire trail. Did they cut the big trees down? Made for a nice relaxing run. A glade Of sorts but not tree skiing. Like Brodie had many years ago.

Yeah there are still a couple trees in there I believe but that change was a disappointment. The mountain did not need fewer things that approached glade-ness to give them another lower mountain blue run.

here we go again - web site shows Hellgate,Parkway and Minya are closed, but flyer is running and loading. There are no other trails with enough snow to open from the top. Guess you ride up just to down load??

Conditions were actually quite good yesterday, however the cams show they lost a great deal of snow with yesterdays rain. Another inch expected tomorrow. Will not be good

I am at Hunter. Minya, Hellgate and Belt are all open off top. One way down from each. Not raining. Rain softened smooth surface on all.

raining now - website has 3 lifts open (I can confirm this), but just 1 trail open, Bucky;s...How can this be so difficult??

Mountain definitely took a beating from 12 o'clock yesterday, as I can tell from the cam's. Still another inch of rain expected. all that snow wasted on the tubing park etc.....

Great band on Sunday from 12-3 (I know....but that is what the website has). Has not been advertised / promoted in anyway whatsoever. Just stumbled on it checking the event calendar....

Professor Louie and the Cromatix. He played with "The Band", and plays a lot of their songs. Quite good and entertaining. Woodstock area resident, tours a lot, but when in the area I see tickets at around $40.

Spread the word ----hate to see low attendance and the mountain does not spend the money....Plus they never have bands on a Sunday....go figure. That is not the band in the photo....

Hunter Mountain, guests, local community members, and the team celebrated a major milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at one of its two new Epic Lift Upgrades designed to elevate the skiing and riding experience this winter season.

  • Broadway Express: A new high-speed, 6-person chair replaced the existing 4-person fixed-grip Broadway Lift and reduces wait times at one of the mountain’s most popular lifts while increasing uphill capacity by 55%, making it even easier for guests to access the terrain they love.
  • Otis Quad: The existing 4-person fixed-grip Broadway Lift replaced the 2-person fixed-grip E lift, increasing uphill capacity and ensuring guests have more time to learn new skills and explore terrain.

Otis has yet to run.

Broadway Express, many issues....the safety bars have come down on those offloading....hitting some in the head, arms, wrists etc.....

The offload is quite flat so snowboarders and kids have a difficult time getting off, causing an issue..

And the bumpers meant to keep the kids from slipping through were removed this week, due to adult complaints about getting hit by them. However, they did not plug the holes so they will fill with water and make the bar even harder to lift.........you can't make this stuff up.....

To anyone who isn't looking for a place to grind their ax, these all sound like things that Leitner-Poma takes partial, if not majority responsibility for.
