Iirc that’s the new loading terminal location. It’s not a straight replacement as they put forth to the planning commission.

Apparently, they forgot to consider all the snowmaking pipes under the landing zone of the new lift so they have to move them all!

New B lift towers are in. a couple on gun hill. The drop off is going to be a huge mess when the skiers have to cross the widest trail to get to Gun Hill, kennedy, and Ike. They also will need to head either towards F or head to that run that leds under the old b lift line to get to the park, race trail, mad and mossey. Insane!

Hello Hunter Ski Bums Facebook group! For those who do not know or those who have heard about the new trail and lift updates for Hunter Mountain’s 65th Season, this is a breakdown on what has changed on the map so bear with me (comment below if you have any questions):
Hunter East (One):
The former B-Lift Quad red colored lift (which originally went up Kennedy) has been moved to Hunter East (One) and is now starting at the former Teepee at Fordham Road

. The former E-Lift is renamed to the Otis Quad, named after the Otis Summit Elevating Railway which served cargo to the mountaintop which boosted the economy.
Fordham Road

looks like it has been extended and almost merged with Boston Road

(wide open terrain for beginners) and Central Park

and Central Park North

are wide open now, with no lift towers!
Rip Van Winkle

trail is no longer a meandering, snake like turning trail. On skier’s left (getting off of the Otis Quad); It’s now a straight down trail, and runs parallel to the Otis Quad.
Macombs

trail is being brought back to the map! For those history buffs and longtime skiers of Hunter: before Rip Van Winkle, there were two trails, Hemlocks and Macombs Road. This was the late 1970’s to mid 1970’s. Rip Van Winkle trail was built to levitate skier traffic emptying out at the top of the original C-Lift double (see Hunter Mountain instagram most recent post of the old C-Lift double). The trail is now simplified to just Macombs

and not Macombs Road.
Main Mountain:
The New Broadway Express is a new six passenger chairlift with 13 towers and empties out at the bottom of the bumps course that the freestyle team uses on Lower 42nd Street

. This means that you can now lap run Gun Hill Road

and that means Gun Hill Road

has a wider enterance with good spacing between towers. Just remember to look up hill when crossing over trails.
Off Broadway is renamed to Herald Square

. Herald Square is located in Manhattan at 23rd street at Broadway and 6th Avenue. Hunter wanted to eliminate the amount of “Broadways” on the map to minimize confusion. Ex. Lower Broadway, B(roadway)-Flat, Pff Broadway, Broadway. Now it’s Herald Square

and now that goes into…
Times Square

- Broadway trail renamed
East Side Drive-
So if you were skiing down the trail that connects you from the top of the flyer to go to Hellgate, Jimmie, etc, and you would take that trail on the left? What did you call that? Apparently, it’s East Side Drive and not Minya Konka, so it’s now called Upper East Side Drive!! And the (old) East Side Drive is you guessed it, Lower!
Belt Parkway-
So if any skiers know that hidden trail behind the flyer if you were to take a right as soon as you get off of the lift? Apparently that’s been renamed to Belt Parkway Bypass

. Can’t say much about that since I never really took it that much lol
West Side:
For those advanced skiers on the page who like those bumps and moguls, when you are going down Clair’s Way from the top, there is a trail to the left that is called Taylor’s Run. It is also known as Tower 8 or Upper Donut. There is a sign that shows that it’s a double diamond but only that section but, that has been changed. It’s now called Upper Taylor’s Run and is a diamond. The lower park is still just Taylor’s Run.
Hunter North
Thought I wouldn’t see any name changes here, but by suprise, there is! Only some barely noticeable change, Sleepy Hollow

has been broken up into Upper and Lower Sleepy Hollow

. Some of the people here would call the end of Overlook the run out of Overlook, which technically it is, but it’s now Sleepy Hollow after they extended it on the map I think in 2021-2022 or 2022-2023.
I think I’ve simplified this well enough, so let me know what you guys think! We are looking forward to that fresh pow soon enough

It looks like there is no more Broadway ski trail at Hunter. The skiers right section of main Broadway is now 7th Aver. The skiers left section of main Broadway is now Times Square. At the widest section of Broadway there are 4 names on the trail.

However, there will always be HBK!

I cut and pasted from Facebook - it was an employee from what I understand.

I also hear they are going to blow snow tomorrow night....the streams are empty , the holding pons way down and we are under wild fire red alert. The local firefighters are headed over to the fire in the Belleayre area (about 15 miles away).

They did start to make snow last night. HBK, Belt and Wayout....long way to go, but cold temps for the next several days...but rain, finally, in the forecast for next week.
