I am thinking of taking a day trip to Berskhire East this saturday and I wanted to know if this is a good place to ski with my son who can now ski blue trails. I looked at the trail map online at there website and it looks like a nice place. I have only been there once about 10+ years ago and I don't really remember it very well. I am looking for a relatively uncrowded place to ski this weekend and this area seems like a good bet, even if it is a bit far for a day trip.

Any information would be greatly appreciated

This Beast is awesome! It's a great place with a lot of steep challenging natural terrain. It will also be a great place to ski with your son as they have a quad on the West side that services a lot of intermediate terrain. Big Chief is a great cruiser off the summit too.

Check out the various Beast trip reports here.

Another great point is that they're back to full operation again, having received a foot of new snow earlier this week.

Much like my experiences with Burke and MRG, Berkshire East had a good vibe to it. Don't expect Stratton or anything. The conditions have probably improved immensely since our visit two weeks ago.

I've been there once. As a Wachusett local, let's just say the lift line comparison is much better! I'm taking 3/7 off expressly for a return visit to the Beast. If anyone will be there for $15 lift ticket with a Coke day, please PM me.

Love the Beast! Great throw-back vibe, short liftlines, cool view of the little Charlmont valley. It's got everything a developing young skier and his Dad would want.

If you're coming up 91, plan on about an hour from Springfield, MA. Have a great time.....

The Beast is great and is a lot of fun. On my 4 visits since the 03-04 season, I have not experienced any lift lines.

If you go, they are giving away discount coupons when you buy a ticket. Try to snare someone who just bought a ticket and see if you can "borrow" his coupon. Alternately, go inside to customer service and ask for a coupon..... It will save you $10 per ticket!
