I like Slidebrook for obvious reasons. As for best in the east, I have many favorites as I am a lift person (hence being a mod on Skilifts.org). MRG Single, South Ridge Triple: K-Mart, Wildcat Express, Burke Mountain Poma, Jay Peak Tram, all the great lifts, as well as some of the lesser known ones.

either triple at the north face of mt snow.. nobody ever goes there, so you can get in 20 runs easy. andthey are relatively quick

For me lift priorities are:
  1. Well maintaned. Nothing worse than a lift evac on a cold day.
  2. Easy on/off so people don't get hurt and the lift doesn't stop so often. Some lifts are just set up wrong and are damn hard to get on and off.
  3. Comfort. I like hunter Mtn's HSQ because it has nice soft seats like a livning room sofa.
  4. No advertisement. NY State ski areas Belleayre, Gore, and Whiteface get kudos for no lift advertisement.
  5. View - chair lifts should rotate after loading so you can see the view below and then rotrate back just before unloading. Hah now someone can not patent this idea because it just got published here in the alpine zone.

The best lift in the east WAS the old Wildcat gondi with it's Jetsons style bubble cars!

I have a love hate relationship with the new quad. It's soooo fast but is prone to closures due to wind and mechanical issues.

i wasn't going to contribute but I've been impressed by the Wildcat Quad - never been there on days when it broke down which would annoy me to no end but I've found it to run under wind conditions that I thought surely would close it. This year (Sunday, 2/26/06) it was running on day I found that the sustained winds were halting my downward progress on the Wildcat trail with my skis pointing directly downhill - coldest day I've skiied in along time. I also like the forerunner lift in Stowe.

I ahve to agree with those who have said the Poma at Burke, It's faster than the chair and gets you access to most of the terrain. Also, it's a blast to ride it.
