Bumps and Boards

I don't think snowboarding is as "hot and popular" as it was just a couple years ago. The best kids in the park that i see are young kids on twin tips doing just insane stuff.

Agreed, it's definitely lost some popularity back to skiing, but these things are cyclical I suppose. I think it's probably still more popular than skiing among the very young, but the pendulum seems to have tilted a bit back towards skiing.

nothing ruins a bumps run faster than a "falling leaf" snowboarder
wide skis on a poor skier do a number on them as well, but not as much back side scraping as a board.

I have seen ZERO difference at Taos now that snowboarders are allowed, the place skis the exact same. For me short little 170 skis make suckier bumps than boards. Really who cares?

Good call.. Let's all look at the historical facts - and the snowboard bans make that easy.

Everyones quick to jump on snowboards for bad conditioins most likely because they suck at bumps and need an excuse for their inadequacies..

I could care a less who skis the bumps. That said a snoboard does wreck a skiers bump line not matter how good the boarder is.

I think I should be given a large grant to study this topic for atleast the next 4-5 ski seasons at resorts in the northeast and in the west. That way I can get a multi-year, multi-condition data set and publish a report in ski magazines world wide so that this issue can be put to rest.

I have too, but it's extremely rare. Bumps and flats are like a snowboarder's kyptonite.

And I stay out of the super tight trees. Snoboarders should be credited with a lot of the expansion in the glades. They can get down just about anything. Then as the board cuts the small trees on the way by they die and eventually open up enough so I can get in there.:beer:

Do you mean poach it? Or do you mean a boarder hitting it on skis? The latter I've done. I love the terrain at MRG and would love to board it. I'm not that interested in hiking/poaching it though.

That's ridiculous. I dont see anyone in this thread blaming snowboards for "bad conditions" on a given mountain in general, but for certain "problem spots" on certain trails. As for bumps, so few snowboarders attempt them that I dont see it as a problem. Perhaps bump formation, but that is another topic, and one I am unsure of.
