The Worth Mtn Chair at the Middlebury Snow Bowl goes down hill for a short distance after the mid-station followed by a pretty steep climb.

That was half the fun of racing here.... riding that lift. One of my earliest ski memories was that lift.

at the Canyons in Utah, there is a short chairlift called Shortcut to connect the gondola base with the bottom of the mountain that goes downhill. it;s a dinky triple.

K1 goes downhill a bit when it goes parallel to the Canyon runout. The only chairlift I've ridden downhill was the summit quad at Wachusett during Applefest last year.

Anyone here been to Lake Compounce amusement park in Bristol, CT? The park is located at the foot of a mountain and they have a chairlift ride to the top and back. It goes over a 400 foot cliff which is pretty cool on the way down.

Certainly a wild ride and makes one realize that the Snow Bowl is a serious ski area.

What about that connecting lift at Sunday River that takes you over to Jordan Bowl. I believe you can load from each side

Yeah, I know that lift...its the Jordan Mountain Double.....its definately strange riding down. Makes you feel like you could crash or something. Not only that, there's some places on that lift that are pretty high up there...kinda freaky feeling, having to get ready to get off as you come down......My hubby hates that lift and tries to avoid it as much as possible.

The "J" bars in the Zugspitze, in Germany went up and down hills, what a pain in the butt that was. I was riding with my cousins' kid and she kinda threw me off balance and I fell off. Couldn't get back on so I had to ski of piste(which, I had never done before), fell again in that, then finally made my way back to the groomed area, only to have to ride that "J" bar back up again. Man was I tired after that. I get up to where everyone was waiting for me and they looked at me and asked what happened??? Shoulda seen the look on my face, if looks could kill.......LOL.....no, I was a good sport and just said well, ya missed the whole thing. Lets go get on the nice "covered, six-pack chair" to take us up to the top. What a nice rest that was. :)

where does the freezer go down hill. I wouldnt really count the corridor being its more flat then down (and if you've ever hiked the corridor, its actually uphill....slightly)

I think it may go downhill for just a bit in that area.

In the pre-ASC days, downloading on the Killington double in October and late-May always gave me a gigantic vertigo rush.

the "Outpost" gondola at Keystone to get to the "outback"
Paradise quad at Crested Butte: you come over a knob by tower 11 chutes then go downhill to the bottom of paradise bowl, maybe a point for another thread but between those two towers you are extremely high above the trail.

Bring back the double! Downloading was half the fun of fringe season skiing.

I'll also have a place in my heart for standing in the back of the truck to get to the Canyon Quad.:-o

The old Gore gondola did that just past midstation.

On a windy day, the old Gore gondola was a trip. Crossing that ravine just past the midstation was an adventure.......

the Peak 8 super connect at Breckenridge goes downhill for a bit (just before mid station)

With the speed that lift reaches, when it goes over the ridge and heads down, it's like being on a Ferris Wheel.....
