Chairlifts that go uphill and downhill

I think it may go downhill for just a bit in that area.

The lift definitely feels like it goes down in that area. I think most of that feeling is an illusion. The ground is definitely going uphill the whole time in along that stretch. However, I believe the sudden leveling out of the lift after it goes up the steep part of the climb up the mountain and crosses Goat makes it feel like you are suddenly going downhill. It maybe that cable stretch on a fully loaded chair enhances that feeling and that you are indeed momentarily going down until being pulled back up to the next tower. :smash: :smash:

When this thread was first started the Gore gondola came to mind but did not post it as the thread subject is chairlifts. Since it has now been mentioned I spent alot of days on that lift in my youth. I remember it going up, then down, then up, then down, then up to the summit. At one point I remember that you are pretty high off the ground... course ...I remember Mt Snow being steep and after visiting it right after returning from my many years away from New England I was bummed to see that it actually wasn't all that steep....:lol:
