Do you care what you look like while skiing?

Not sure if I responded to this thread but my answer is no.

I like skiing trees & bumps.... imo, you need thick skin to get better. Case in point, I really like the glades in ragged b/c it was so isolated from the crowds. But I had problems when the sections have a tight bump formation, so I focused more in the bumps. However, most bumps are right under or near the lift or in plain sight of the lodge. I had to get over that "I look like a gaper in the bumps" b/c you need to ski bumps to get better in the bumps.

haha.... The mogul trail on 10th at wachusetts is entertainment for the peanut gallery riding the lift. They like busting anyone skiing that trail. I learned to tune them out many years ago.

I'll admit that I like having an audience. I've had a few skiers tell me they saw me rip some moguls and were impressed that I could "do it right" on a snowboard. That feels good, especially since I know how hard it is for any skier to give a snowboarder even a small amount of credit. I think snowboarding as alway been more about style than skiing is, so I think all snowboarders try to look good in some way.

If I ski well, I enjoy an audience. If I ski like crap and/or crash, I would prefer that everyone politely turn away and pretend they didn't see me...!

Even when I fall, unless I'm really hurt, I usually hope someone gets a laugh out if it. I certainly get a hearty chuckle seeing a good yard sale and I'm a firm believer in "don't dish it out if you can't take it". We're out there to have fun, after all, and if you take yourself too seriously then the fun goes out the window.

I just like having fun. If that means bumping under a lift, catching some unexpected air and crash landing leaving a pile of snow, I don't care. And screw the XXXL Tall T-Shirt Gaggle, I have recently started to wear old Nordic sweaters and ugly 80s style ones on the slope over my Under Armour.

Can't believe I never found this thread. Funny, my mom used to constantly , constantly ask while riding the chairlift if she looked like other people around. Do I look like that? Like that? Like that?

I find myself noticing certain people also and I do wonder what I look like sometimes. Like when you hear your voice recorded, it always sounds funny; likewise I"m sure seeing yourself ski you would be more critical than the average person.

I remember Cheese saying to watch for Gingerbread Men (arms-out) down the slopes. That stuck with me and everytime I see someone skiing like this:
