Old Skiis?

I still jump on my 10 - 12 year old 200cm Volant FX-2's once in a while when it is early in the morning and the stuff they groomed last night has turned into "frozen granular" also known as ICE!!! Those edges just don't let go on that stuff. I do it less and less these days because I only carry them when I have my Thule Box on my roof, and my current hatchback lets me carry my skis inside and thus reduces drag, and saves fuel (and makes me less interesting to State Troopers) on my run north.

I ski fairly regularly on a set of Rossi Axiom's that were new to me in 2000, but I believe the model year was more like 1997 or so. I have a couple of pairs of Dynamic VR27s from the early 90's that still are mounted, but I haven't brought them out in a few years.

I have a pair of Volkl heli-skiing skis that are 2000 or 2001 model year. I only pull them out on epic powder days.

Everything else that's old in my quiver needs to get dragged to the dumpster. I have 1 pair of Salomon Scream Xtra Hots with 12 days on them. Everything else is way over 100. The oldest thing I haven't thrown out yet (but should) is a pair of Salomon X-Mountains (a wide straight ski) with a pulled edge.

I've given all my old skis to family members. My oldest, newest and only skis are my '02 K2 Axis X Pros. I'll likely upgrade this season...

bump

I'm sure things have changed for most since this post. For me they have not. The Axioms are still the oldest active ski in my quiver. I used them twice this winter on 12"+ powder days when the B2's weren't providing the float I wanted.

Status is still the same for the Dynamics, though they are in storage until I eventually convert them to an Adirondack chair.

My 2000 Bandits, which I planned on skiing early last season as rock skis rather than my AC3s. Turned out, that wasn't exactly necessary.

'97 198 K2 Merlin V's. I didn't use them last year but they are waxed and ready to go if I want them. I figure they'll be good for a gaper day at some point.

I've got a pair of circa 1988 Rossi 3G's that are still in use, of course their current use is the center piece of my ski chair ;)

The oldest I actually still ski on is a pair of 2005 Atomic B5 Metrons

I have 195 length X-tremes and the last time I used them was April of 2007 and wow did they suck compared to more modern skis...lol..but I haven't skied them regularly since 04-05

oldest ski I was on last year was an 0607 Volkl AC40...on halloween, after that, nothing older than a 0708. I'm an equipment pimp...tough to pimp new stuff if you're skiing on old stuff.

A 93 burton Brushie i think its a 154. it was the first comped board i ever got. i use it bib jonk board.
Then there is a my 93 burton air 165. i bought it two years ago because when i lived at stowe i had the 157 and that was the board that let me rule that mountain it was great in the pow and groomers. the shape was so good burton two years ago released a updated version of it in japan under the name Aura. the only thing different was the hole mounting patern on it. it is now my Splitboard and it works exactly the way i remember. its just a tad long in tight trees but its still a chief rocka.

Once I bring them back from my parents' house, they'll be my K2 715s from '99. Old school rock bump skis.

I'll also probably bring back my ~96ish Rossignol RAGs, or whatever they are, but more for decoration than skiing.
