For those that aren't buying a pass, would you have considered it given the current price if they had touted returning to a longer season, say early November through late May?

See my post on KZone. Lots of    :x  :(

Wow, Trailboss isn't happy with something, what a suprise. I didn't see that coming.

Seriously, just get the Jay, Bolton, MRG. What is there that you don't like about that pass? Only thing I can think off is that there isn't enough intermediate terrain for mrs. trailboss, but Bolton has tons. How much further is Bolton than Pico for you?

As said before, just holding tight right now....no need to hurry.

Bolton is 75 miles or so one way. K-mart/Pico, as stated somewhere else here, is 31 miles (Bear Mountain) and 36 miles (Pico) respectively from our place one way.

Mid-April? Guess ya'll gotta hope that's a case of under-promise and over-deliver.

I agree...if they have the snow I feel they will extend the season and not charge anything additional for season pass holders. It doesn't really cost them that much since they will getting other income and positive PR by extending and they know they have to rebuild the brand and customer loyalty, season pass buyers being an important spoke in that wheel..

Regarding the August date for the college I think this an example of how Powdr views their revenue and how it comes in as tight to the vest as possible. Most of the college market, especially freshman, are not registered college students until starting in late August, depending on the college. Sure, the resorts that sell them now will take your money but you don't actually receive them until the fall after everyone is registered. Plus, Powdr gets to leave one card still in the deck, having time to check out everyone else's prices before deciding on a final price.

TB is doing the right thing by waiting. Sure, I guess it's a gamble but my feeling is for the first couple of years they are going to be as customer friendly as they can afford. Like Nyberg said, it's gonna be a couple of years before serious improvement will become reality.

I'll be buying two with black outs this year and will goto Whiteface/Gore for the first time to see how I like them. I do anticipate bigger hikes next year and would like an alternative. The Whiteface/Gore pass is looking mighty nice.

It might have made a difference. To me this is a big FU to the loyal Killington skiers.

Basically they are asking us to to pay 75% more for a season pass with 80% more blackout day and 4 less resorts to ski at. And on top of that they seem to be implying that Killington might actually have a shorter ski season then we have historically had and close in mid-April!

They are basically asking us to buy a pig in a poke without any idea of how they will run the resort or what improvements they intend to make.

I think the least they could have done was offer some sort of season pass renewal to former A41 pass holders at a similar price. (After all Mount Snow and Attitash have season pass priced around the same level as the Bronze A41.) Once the new management shows us the improvements they are making and the commitment to the long November to June season (like Killington use to have in the old days) I think passholders like myself would be more willing to accept the sharp price increase.

Andyzee, I am with you. I definetly plan on checking out Whiteface and Gore this year. If they look good I might make the move too next year.

i'm there this season though i may scale back to a blackout pass to save $800 (for two) which is something i've never done before. for me, the shorter season is a gamebreaker and may force my hand to go elsewhere the following season. only problem is that k at about 4 1/2 hrs is at the limit of my weekend warrior drive radius. i'd rather go to the da bush or stowe but tacking another hr or two onto the drive is pretty tough. other alternative is to do fewer but longer trips or maybe 2 western trips instead of one. i just think i'd go crazy if i wasn't skiing every weekend. this sux ...

The pass price and the implied shorter season where pretty much in line with what I expected from a Killington with Powdr management. I only skied Kilington 3 days this season and I doubt we will even bother next year especially without the fringe season skiing. Most likely we will take weekend trip's to Sunday River/Sugarloaf and day trips to Mount Snow/Bromley/Magic.

I don't see it that much different then snows deal. Its $100 more with a few more black out days. Yeah, its not the deal of a life time but they have to start making money sometime so they can update the place. I don't have a problem with it as long as they do what they say they are going to do.

Actually the Mount Snow early season blackout pass (before June 1) was $399. It was $200 cheaper than the Killington pass with a lot less blackouts. So you could pretty much get a 07/08 Mount Snow pass for about what you paid for the Bronze A41.

Did not know about the june 1st date. My guess is that they did not want to give sticker shock the first year. I would be willing to bet that snows prices jump up a good amount next year which would put it inline with K, bush..ect

At this point, I don't have any deadlines. I can wait until snow flies because all mtns will be setting the College Pass Deadlines in late October or so.

It is Ms. TB that is the sticking point. She is leaning more towards a Pico pass...but we have no idea how long Pico's season will be or what the price of that pass will be. Methinks that it will be the same December-late March season, and probably in the $550 range with no blackouts. That would be perfect. We've talked a little bit about it...Ms. TB is not in the skiing mode...so talking about Season Passes is not a favorite past-time for her and she relies on me to make the call. FWIW she has really enjoyed my calls as of late (Sunday River for 2005 vaca, Sunapee for 2005-2006, Pico for 2006-2007). She told me she has little or no interest in skiing at K-mart. Pico for her. This season it was not too bad....Late January-Late March was just money...got to ski my favorite stuff (A Slope, Outpost, Summit Glades, KA, Sunset). Good mix. Good vibes. So we want to stay there....

And I am not really angry, Austin. Just a bit of a *sigh* seeing the that we have to wait more for Pico prices. Patience is a virtue though....

Yeah yeah yeah. This still doesn't mean that you shouldn't have bought that Triple Major already! Distances to both MRG and BV are about the same for you as the drive to Burke was. Throw Jay in there once and a while for those special big dumps and like I said before - no brainer. Get in some powder days at MRG and you'll forget all about the Burke situation, I'd imagine. ;) Then pick up your Pico/K pass to ski with the lady once they announce it...

Again, it is a great option on the table. Keeping all options on the table at this point though....the price will be the same for the MRG deal today as it will be two months from now.

He can. Unless he is buying the pass for me, and then he can go ahead and do that.

You're right. I'm being overly selfish. The truth is I just want to read your reports and see pics from MRG throughout season. Is there anything wrong with that? :smash:

I'll make you a deal. If you do the stupid thing and don't get the Triple, we'll pick a prime day to ski MRG together (on me) so you can see what you missed. Deal?
