Downdraft too? Wonder if they're run the Canyon quad as well?

Upper Downdraft is just the section between the summit and great northern. Looks to me like they are trying to provide two routes off the summit.

is there a possibility of the snowshed slopes to be opened for beginners?

Historically snowshed would be the next area they work on, I am sure the time frame is weather dependant. Please dont take this the wrong way but if part of your group needs snowshed it would probably be best to wait for a few weeks. Friday and Saturday expecially will be good for a getting a few runs in early and then grabbing a few cold ones and taking the afternoon easy.

It would just be the headwall. All 100 vertical feet. but still, its a start.

what a rollercoaster ride planning this trip has been. So much ups and downs...I will think about it real real hard....I can barely get any work done today...because I keep refreshing alpinezone and the killington website!

Just those two, damn, that would be a slow day for me.

I check KZone from time to time. The thing that annoys me over there is that they keep mentioning this crazy SOB in all of their polls. ;-)

Looking at the cars in bay 1, you are not the only one who would ski it.

Personally i have to work so thursday is fine by me.

The website says there open now.

This Week's Update
It's official! Sugarloaf/USA is open for the 2006-07 season! We've been cranking out snow like crazy, and we just sent gold medalist Seth Wescott down for the first run of the season, making Sugarloaf the first resort in the East to open for the season.

The recent cold temperatures, combined with all of our new, low-energy snow guns allowed us to crank out a whole bunch of fresh in the past few days, and we got the SuperQuad turning at about 2.

We'll have the quad fired up again tomorrow morning, servicing 2 miles and nearly 2,000 vertical feet of skiing and riding on Tote Road.

We'll keep the snow guns running all day tomorrow, which means conditions throughout the day should be somewhat variable. Hazards may exist, and skiing tomorrow is recommended for advanced skiers and riders only.

Lift tickets will be just $29 tomorrow to open the season, so skip work, head on up and make some turns with us.

According to the Rep from K that I spoke to at the Boston Ski Expo, No.

We're likely cancelling our trip there this weekend. Wife isn't completely into the Intermediate level yet, nor is the kid. I'm not about to pay holiday rates to get bumped around like a pinball on Great Northern for 3 days...

Don't forget Bunny Buster/Mouse Trap or Chute, that's normal offering some season as well. They rarely turn the Cripple early, its usually the Quad and the Poma.... I saw that about Downdraft headwall, that's interesting!

Killington has posted the rates for the weekend, they will be charging $51.

Resort News: Killington will open Thursday, at 8 a.m. for the 2006-07 season with the MOST open terrain and served by the MOST lifts in the East!

At Killington on Thursday, you'll experience top to bottom skiing served by the K-1 Gondola on Killington Peak and the Snowdon Quad and Snowdon Triple on Snowdon Mountain serving 6.5 miles of the MOST open terrain in the East on 16 trails. Plus, two terrain parks on Reason and Upper Double Dipper, featuring numerous hits, rails and boxes!

The majority of OPEN terrain is designated as MORE DIFFICULT or MOST DIFFICULT. There is no EASIER route from top-to-bottom. Please make sure your decision to ski or ride with this in mind. Early season conditions exist. Ski and ride only on open trails. Fencing, ropes and signage are in place to inform you and indicate possible hazards or obstacles.

================================================================
A couple of weeks ago when it look like they may open on the 11th, I asked SpinmasterK what the rates would be, at that time he said $41. Guess since it's now Thanksgiving rates have gone up.

MARC!!! You can not afford this, I can not afford to make up the difference for you.

Do Not Go!!!!!!!

that sucks that you are not going to make to k this weekend. my friends and i have a condo/timeshare deal rented for the long weekend. some are leaving friday and i will be leaving saturday with a few others to ski on sunday and monday. i would be up there earlier but the bronze pass is blacked out thurs-sat. i cant seem to justify paying for a ticket when i have a pass.

as far as the lady and your kid getting out there i hear ya on that one. my friend had his girlfriend in tears at opening day at hunter a few years ago but she made it down when just one slope was open and it was every man for himself. prolly made her a better skiier. she can rip but needs to be pushed. my lady is just getting started so it would be a long day if i tried to get her up to the mtn this weekend as well.

So it's 8:14 and raining in Ma. In fact it's been raining all night. It seems that the rain hasn't arrived yet up North, but it's predicted for the P.M.
Today: Increasing clouds with showers arriving this afternoon. High 44F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 40%
