Can't say I like DH all that much but it's not like you can't have a good time there. It's a typical big western resort with a few thousand acres to play around in. And they do not groom everything.

Just returned from Park City. Skied Deer Valley one of the days. They groom all blues and greens but leave the bowls and expert slopes alone. That picture is of a bump run near the base. Other bowls , such as Empire are much larger and more open. Best food and service I've experienced at a mountain. Put it on your list.

I believe the one of the left is Know You Don't, site of the 2002 Olympic mogul competition. If you look carefully, you can see a fairly uniform bump line on the skier's left of that trail.

Exactly right! They actually still have the line worked in/maintained from when the world cup was at DV in late January. If I had panned my camera to the right, they also still have the freestyle jumps up too! You could actually ski right upto the freestyle jumps, and standing next to the jump, on the edge of the landing hill really gives a wild perspective as to how seriously crazy the arielist(?sp) are!

DV is a secret gem....

If its possible for a place that has been rated #1 by Ski Magazine many times to be underated in many areas, its DV. Seriously, ever 2 planker owes it to themselves to experince DV atleast once. Many people go there for the first time expecting to hate it, because of all the sterotypes it has, but then, you see how efficient the lift system is, you see that they have some seriously great falline skiing, you see that they have some great tree terrain, bowls, chutes and ALOT of bumps, and then you have lunch(have to see/taste it to believe your eating at a "ski area cafeteria". They just plain and simple do it right, and I don't think they know how to say "no" when it comes to a customer request. A few places in the West may come close to the customer experience as DV, but nothing in the East is anywhere near what DV puts on the table.

skiing at deer valley is real nice... but when i'm in Utah, park city areas are not very appealing. If i want good food and plush lodges, i go to snowbasin (highly recomend some quality time in the bathroom), other than that its bcc, lcc, and ogden areas. More snow.

On second thought i had one the most incredible powder days at deer valley. the trees are quite nice and seem to stay fresh longer.
