At the beginning you are skiing bumps at hunter and to the left there is a cliff...is it possible to hit that, or is it not such a bright idea:idea:

12/8? That's JimG. There are many rocky outcoppings like that at Hunter than many people hit if there's enough snow.

its just weird seeing you crash because the times i've skied with you and from what i see in Greg's vids, you are always ripping it.

Awesome job! That tune by Saliva really went well with it. This would make a good bump technique vid as well.

Great videos Greg! I'm just glad my skiing made the season highlight video & not the blooper video. Just lucky I guess as I had plenty of falls. You just didn't capture any of them on film!

It truly was a great season & I thoroughly enjoyed skiing with all the AZers. That day at MRG on 4/6/07 with the whole crew is one I will never forget. Great way to top-off a super season.

I'm already looking forward to next season!

Well, when you weren't falling you were tearing it up that day. I had forgot how good a skier you were...

No, but I think they do share a brain...

You might want to steer clear of Whiteface and Hunter. It sounds like those ADK folks have it out for you.

You don't want to wind up tied to a lift pole in only your skivvies!

Thanks for sharing. Sorry to say I liked the blooper real a bit more but thats only cuz it's closer to my style of skiing. The style of crash'n and burn'n.

I hope its ok to ask some questions about your moving making techniqes and how to get started making something close to what you do. I guess the starter questions would be what kind of cameras were used, the format of the videos taken (Kodak makes .mov) and the actual movie making/editing software. My friend used Nero but i dont know if it can do as much of the fancy stuff yours does.

Thanks,
wes

Thanks Wes. Pretty basic set-up really. I have a Canon Powershot A700 (point and shoot camera) which has a pretty decent video mode (640x480 resolution) that saves videos in AVI format. The biggest limitation with the camera is the zoom. Using a lot of zoom in video mode results in a crappy digital zoom that gets pixelated. Normally, I'll set the analog zoom level before shooting and use the digital zoom sparingly, if at all.

As far as the editing, I just use the Windows Movie Maker that comes free with Windows XP Service Pack 2. I think WMM struggles with MOV files though so you will need something to convert them to AVI. WMM is actually pretty basic and somewhat limited, but my approach to videos is simpler is better. I use two or three different transitions, lay a song on the video and some basic credit scenes and labels, and that's about all I need. More discussion of video editing software here:

http://forums.alpinezone.com/11446-suggestions-decent-video-editing-software.html

Enjoy! There's a learning curve, but making these little videos has become addictive for me. I use the same basic template for each one so I can bang out a 5 minute vid in about 2 hours. My first few took much longer. Here are all the vids I did this season:

Mount Snow - 11/25/06
Hunter - 12/8/06
Sundown - 12/10/06
Hunter - 12/15/06
Sugarbush - 1/19/07
Sundown - 1/31/07
Magic - 2/16/07
Berkshire East - 2/23/07
Hunter - 3/19/07
Sundown - 3/26/07
Sundown - 3/30/07
Mad River Glen - 4/6/07
Killington - 4/20/07

Sorry, my annual season ending depression prevented me from seeing this sooner...

I'm not sure what the hell my problem was. I seem to remember something about going off the side of the trail and breaking through some crusty stuff or something. Mostly I'm just a fumbling oaf who has trouble getting his fat ass up off the ground though.
