The reply from Chris:

We had to flatten the Exhibition bumps due to the fact that we hosted the CT senior games on the 27th and we will host the CT special Olympics this weekend. They both need that space for there events. On Nor'easter we trimmed the tops right before the last snow fall. They look to be reforming well. I hope to reseed Exhibition next week

Me thinks you owe Pat a beer, Brian...

Nice to hear they're going to be reseeding the Ex bumps, they needed it anyway.

Greg, didn't the guest service guy that clipped me say that they went around with a shovel and whacked the tops. Maybe he was just giving his theory on what happened?

They trimmed the tops with what?

I don't see how they could have used a groomer to 'trim the tops'...

He didn't elaborate. I initially thought maybe they just knocked them down manually with shovels or something, but that would be pretty labor intensive. They were pretty flattened though so I assume they "lightly" groomed them somehow.

Agreed. And the fact that they are going to reseed at all indicates they will probably make an effort to maintain Nor'easter. Chris said they "look to be reforming well". Some lines actually did begin to reform by the end of the night on Monday. It's pretty flat in the middle there though. I think they will definitely need more TLC at some point. Brian - I think you mentioned the terrain guy you skied with massaged the line on the right. Do they do that with shovels or something? Anyway, I'm out next week anyway, but it looks like we'll still have some bump offerings through March. Let's not forget that the final bump run didn't even get set up initially last year until Feb. 14. They lasted until around March 20. Nor'easter has a ton more snow this year so hopefully we'll have bumps until April. Friday's rain is gonna kill some base though...

I don't recall that. I think that was just part of the overall discussion. I never put much faith in patrol or guest services really knowing what's going on there at all. Brian is a much better source.

Yes, they used shovels to massage the whole run after they first formed them with the snow-cat. The terrain guy just paid extra close attention to 'his' line on the right. That's why I don't think it's unreasonable to think they topped them all with shovels. I still stand by my argument that no groomer has been up that trail... ;)
