I was at Sunapee today and saw a guy who had multiple lift tickets tacked onto one wicket...overlapped so you could see each individual ticket added so that you could see how many days he had skied.

When I was a kid, I did the same thing and one season my "ticket chain" was about 18 inches long  I was a nerd I guess...especially because they were all Burke tix

I don't do it anymore...especially because I am a season pass holder and don't have day tix, but last season I did put them on so one could see the different places I had been. But it did not get as long as the one I had back in the day.

So do you just cover up old tickets or do you also stagger the tickets so that one can see where you've been? Have you seen any outlandish ticket chains?

I just put my new ticket over the last one.
Two places that I skied this year have tickets that don't have the adhesive backing. They have a hole and instead of a wire wicket they have a plastic wire type tie.
One guy I saw this year had at least 12 tickets on his jacket, all on separate wickets! LOL.
It looked like an old jacket, so they were likely from multiple years.

Ski Tickets

When the kids were younger they loved collecting the day tickets. Even I would leave a few wickets attached to my favorite shell. Now, I tend to ski in a one piece powder suit that I like to wash frequently and I cut off the tickets pretty much after each day or at least each trip. After having skied at over 50 mountains over the years, keeping tickets attached got a bit silly.

Currently I have a few too many lift tickets dangling from my jacket. But sometimes they do make good conversation pieces. When I was at Jackson Hole two weeks ago, I rarely made it up the gondola without someone in the car commenting on my MRG ticket. that place has a reputation far and wide. it was cool to see so many jackson skiers hold a vermont area in such high regard.

A few weeks ago I got my sticker at Crotched and went to put it over the one from the week before when the lady at the window says "no, no, no! It's too cold out. That'll come right off". Then she hands me some wire cutters so I can remove the whole thing and put a new one on.

It was indeed very cold, 3 degrees and windy, but still, I doubt it would have come off and it was a pain dealing with it with several people in line behind me. Even if it did come off, I have a season pass!?

always always always use a new wicket for each ticket. over laying them can cause tickets to fall off because the glue isn't stuck to itself which really secures the ticket on the wicket. i have seen a lot of people loose tickets this way.

i usually clip wickets off once two or three build up. they start flapping in the breeze and making noises that annoy me. i don't save tickets, they just remind me how much money i spend on them each season

I usually cut them off. I do like to keep the plastic tie that comes with non-adhesive tickets. They come in handy for zipping up with gloves on.

I usually remove my lift tickets after each outing. Nothing worse than a liftie fumbling through them all trying to find the one for that day...

I always thought having a ton lift tickets hanging off your jacket was the ultimate sign of being a gaper, its like saying, "look at me, I'm so cool, look how much I ski!". Also it is really annoying if your a liftie and can't even find the right ticket.

No dice. Parents are retarted, they constantly get my hopes up that I will be able to, then make up some lame excuse why I can't go. Last time I couldn't go because they weren't sure I could drive that far. Yesterday I drove 2:30 to conway while my dad slept, so now there excuse is I need a job before I can go, even though I will pay for everything from gas, to ticket to food.

So you drove to Conway and back yesterday and wanted to go to Cannon today? That is A LOT of driving for one weekend! I don't miss driving that much to go skiing. Now heading up to Burke (one hour) seems like a lot. I know how frustrating it is though when you're a teen. Soon, you'll be in college and able to call the shots.

Nothing screams newbie like a collection of tickets hanging from your jacket. I usually put my ticket on my pants and clip them after every day out.

How about from years ago? I see people at Sundown with old ratty tickets from years ago hanging off their jackets...

When I was younger I used to like to let them collect up, now I think it looks stupid. Plus, like Greg said, it makes it a pain for the lifties... ;)

Thats a little different, at least there is a reason. I'm talking about old Ski Sundown tickets from years ago...
