MMSP continues to crush it. Feels like a real ski resort again.
The new GM, is going to let his staff run with it and crush it. The haters here will laugh at his F&B background when he was head of F&B at Mount Snow before his Midwest stint the last few years with Vail, but personally knowing Mike and seeing how he crushed operating his vast F&B team at Mount Snow and pushed them to be better, he has strong leadership qualities above and beyond what can just be taught.

No doubt in my mind he will maximize what Stowe can do under Vail... Heck, a bunch of us Mount Snower's who know him, wished when we saw his promotion to Stowe, that Vail had chosen to send him back to Mount Snow at that time

Monday through Friday I used to reliably drive up & park so close to the gondola that any closer and I'd be in the gears.

This is what they've taken from us.

Not sure what been taken, other than free parking on Fridays?

Folks can always pick up 3 employees waiting along the access road, and park on Fridays for free!

Been skiing M-Th, 6+wks a season. Park in the front row (Slug's old spot!) by Mansfield lodge. Ten steps to the Six or a few more to the Quad.

See many familiar faces at the quad for 1st chair. There's still a very active group of early morning locals, both skinning up or making early laps.

I don’t love paid parking since I mostly hit the mountain by myself….but the shuttle isn’t all terrible and I think they actually achieved their goal with it?

I haven’t caught a mountain road schit show (even on a few great pow days) these last few years? Now I don’t get nearly as many days up there as I used to, but still average 10 or so a season.

Maybe it is still happening but not as much chatter?

From a person who gets 120 plus days in, the mountain has changed since the paid parking went into effect. It did what they hoped it would do. Again, ever since Bobby left the aggressiveness of opening trails has been night & day….

What did they hope the paid parking would do? I went one weekend last year and both Saturday and Sunday every paid parking spot was filled. Other than make them more money, I don't think it really accomplished anything.

Their stated intention was to reduce the traffic backups on Mountain Road, not to guarantee you a parking space

How so? When I checked prices at Spruce Lodge they said parking was included - as long as you self parked. The valet was $35/day, I think.
I wasn't talking about parking there. Try booking a room at the Lodge now, the prices have doubled over the last couple of seasons. Even a mid-week booking is very expensive.

that doesnt have much to do with parking lol

smart money stays at the commodore! best breakfast around (still i hope?)
Might have to try that out. I've stayed at Stowe Motel before which was fine but Commodore seems a little cheaper, and if they have a really good breakfast then I'm sold. Lol

commodore was like a sick little resort in ~1987 and is sort of still there, but ive always liked it. great value for price. the hot breakfast was really great. steamer trays of eggs and bacon and stuff. but its been years so check on that.

one time my girl and i were meeting another couple at the commodore and we were dirtbagging it in one hotel room, and we got there late. the front desk gave us our keys, and we let ourselves in, and were surprised to find the lights on, bathroom door closed, shower running. we expected our friends to be asleep or maybe watching tv. so i say really loud "ooooooo sexy". then we notice that there is only one person's things in the room. and they were female things.

some poor woman in the shower heard a random man enter her room while she was in the shower and say 'oooo sexy'

night clerk was a fucking idiot. wrong room.

The Commodore use to be amazing. That bar in the back was one of the best places in town for pure partying. I've heard some interesting stories from locals about what went on there years ago. It's changed a lot but it's still a solid place to stay imo. It's also a rare combo of cozy and well themed (for what it is).

The GOAT hotel party place in Stowe was the Walk About Creek Lodge. Owner blowing lines with patrons right on the bar was a regular occurrence. I used to drink there as a 20 year old, no questions asked.

A few years later after the Walk About went out of business, we would party pretty hard at the Stowehof. I tended bar there from 98-2001. I'd keep the bar open until 3-4AM pretty frequently. Stowe PD never bothered coming up Edison Hill Rd back then. I drew the line with the cocaine use out in the open. The original Burt's and Ladies Invited also used to go hard back in the day.
