Anyone have any good "weather for dummies" websites? I really need to learn more about this stuff.

www.weather.com < All sorts of forcasts there

haha.... not

Go to http://www.easternuswx.com

Not really working right, right now but it is very good. It will be very confusing at first, but you'll figure it out in time. I also remember a thread or link over there were they explained all the weather terms. Even though they say you have to register now I think that is just because of the server overload, in a few days you probably wont have to(also registering now wont gain you access to everything right now because something is screwed up)

edit: it works fine as a guest now :)

Weather and Conditions Links

Being a self-described "wanderer", making most of my destination choices at the last minute, I've compile a list of links. These links "help" me decide where the best conditions will be (however, first-hand reports always win). They include current weather, conditions, real webcams, resort info and forecasts from many different sources. I never rely on any single data point for a decision.

I put them all into a web page, so I could access them from anywhere I am. It's constantly evolving based on my preferences, so it's a very utilitarian and not very pretty looking. I am starting to organize them geographically, but it's not finished (skiing takes precedent.) It gets me my info fast, so I'm not in front of the tube more than 10 mins before I hit the road for the slopes.

Because of the constantly-evolving nature of the web, I find myself redesigning it every year, but skiing's my passion, so I do it.

You're probably already aware of all these links, and can probably offer a few nuggets of your own. Hope some of it helps someone.

Hey billski, I have to say WOW! to your web site.

You must have spent quite a bit of time putting that together. Thanks for all that info! It is definitely going into my "favorites."

Holy crap there is a HEAVY snow band on the radar that runs from NE NJ/SE NY down thru the Jersey Turnpike to Trenton (center of the state). The local stations are now calling for accumulations in this area that could be 20-30"!!!!!! Unfortunately I am in the NW portion of NJ so our accumulations will be less...around 12" or so I would guess.

Anyway Mountain Creek in North Jersey should be a good bet for some powder today!! Anyone want to drive SOUTH for snow????

Unfortunately my leg is still healing so I am doing some "window skiing" today! I will just have to watch Bode and Daron on TV today to get my fix...

Best pow will be at Sundown...
I'm right in the middle of the heavy snow band and we've got 1'+ so far. It's hard to say with the drifts. I'll do the first round of snowblowing in a bit and will have a better gauge then. Looks like Sundown is on the Northern fringe of the heaviest snow, but they should still see well over a foot. Heading over to the hill tonight!
