The Ski Cheap Or Die Calendar project

I've been trying to consolidate the discount days that can be had on mountains around here into one simple list/calendar. So far, I have found this to be the easiest method: The Ski Cheap Or Die Google Calendar. Of course this is far from complete but when it's filled in right, it should be pretty handy when you need to find the best deal on the mountains. This is strictly a hobby for me. PM me with anything you think should be on it.

Again, whatever you know about discount days (especially those regular ones that the resorts publish) pm me or just post it to this thread. The Google calendar is very easy to update and overlay other calendars. I crafted another one just to figure out the discount/free days for the Warren Miller show (Portsmouth, NH). Check it out.

www.liftopia.com has good deals on a limited number of New England mountains. We used them for Whiteface on December 1st and saved $37 between my son and I.

Thanks to the help of some folks here, this is shaping up quickly. Keep the info coming! I'm thinking of making it a calendar for passes under $40-not just the discount days. This will include already low rates at some places (eg Whaleback).

I found that if you sign into Google calendars (free) you can search on the calendar. Basically you make a calendar of your own-don't need to put anything on it and subscribe to this one. Then you can use the search tools on the top. The search options seems to work well.

Thanks Bill, I will pilfer whatever info I can. The basic premise is that most of us have a pretty good idea which days we can escape to the mountains. Remembering all of the deals is too hard.

The Ski Cheap Or Die thing was just a discussion on a chairlift that turned into a website challenge. Actually, I think I found this site by googling the phrase and I think Billski was using it in his signature. I tried to craft a blog envisioning retiring on Google adsense :roll:. That turned out to be more work than anything. I kept the domain name and did nothing with it for a while. FWIW I have managed to keep my average ski ticket to less than $25.

So now I do it just for the hell of it and truly appreciate how much work has gone into make AZ function.

I think I just saw a possible mistake on your calender. You have MRG's kiss your honey day listed on Jan 14th but I think it's suppose to be Feb 14th Valentines day. Great job though.
