Wildcat skied great today. The upper mountain was completely open as was the bar. Very liberal rope drops as always at the cat (watch out for water bars) Wish they would open the bathrooms in the upper lodge again but other than that, great day. Definitely worth going in the next day or two if you can.

The third point I will make is that you have only praised Vail, your employer, in this thread. I never see any criticism from you but instead defensive comments. ...
>>
There is a very simple reason you don't see any criticism of Vail from me. Social media negativity from employees are not welcome by any business that I know of. I am silent on most things said on this thread. Every now and then, I find something so over-the-top that I choose to comment.

You resurfaced here last season. Presumably because SnowJournal is likely all but dead these days and you wanted to talk to more than the same handful of people. With that comes different views and perspectives that may not align with yours. If you don't like it here you can always go somewhere else.
>>
My appearance on AZ in 2014 had an ulterior motive that was satisfied, so I left. My return last year was also a result of another issue, that was neither related to Vail nor dis-satisfaction with Snow Journal.

If I commented only on that issue, my agenda would have been transparent.

As far as being an employee of Vail: The ski business has been a hobby of mine going back to 1978. In addition to a number of other ski areas, I worked for Crotched Mountain under the Gannetts (1980s), under Peak Resorts and now, under Vail. I don't think that either DrJeff or I has our standard of living impacted by the few dollars we are paid by Vail. My interest is in CM. I am retired. I live at CM. A lot of my friends ski here and "work" here.

I very much appreciate 4aprice's posting. He said:
<<
Joshua lives on Crotched Mountain and has been through the various ownerships that have operated that mountain. He seems happy with Vail's methods and the way they operate the mountain so he's got the right to his opinion. Dr Jeff seems happy with operations at Mt Snow. One thing about skiing a Vail Resort is that you know they have the financial backing to do things and keep the area running. ....
>>
The value of my real estate doubled when CM became a Vail Resort, so there are certainly aspects of Vail with which I am very happy.

And in answer to 4aprice's comment on whether or not I'm on SkiTalk: yes, I am there, too (for the same reason I am on AZ).

Vail was responsible for Covid ? They really do suck !
Interestingly, the top three towns for home sales and price increase percentages in VT during covid were in Stowe, Ludlow, and Dover. Might partly have something to do with Vail.

Probably some truth to that, when the circus comes to town, people do need a place to stay

Anyone else get contacted by Vail saying they admit their pass sucks and they'll be sending out new ones? Apparently the RFID won't scan in a jacket pocket?

Is this some new problem just with the cards they started using this year? Like a bad batch or something? I didn't renew this year, but I'm assuming my pass would have been fine since it worked the past 2 years through my jacket at Stowe.

New passes:

We have identified an issue with the RFID chip within your physical pass card that was mailed to you this year. While the barcode on your pass can be scanned directly, we will not be able to scan your pass through your jacket as intended because the RFID chip was not coded correctly by our printing vendor.

Haven't been contacted yet, but I was told a bad batch went out when my pass didn't work on my first day. Last seasons works fine even though it's a different pass. Not sure why they even sent a new (shitty) one.

"Not coded correctly by our printing vendor" sounds like code for "we chose the lowest bidder to print and process our passes and got what we paid for".

“You’ve got it wrong buddy…me and the Stormtroopers spent weeks deliberating over how we could lower the cost of the chicken to a more affordable $25 for three tenders. You can thank us later for the savings”

Vail sent me an email today that my pass is on it's way, similar to the previous 3 messages that they sent me with no shipping details, over the past month. I bought a cycling jersey from China a few years ago and they made the jersey to order, shipped it over 7,000 miles and I got it in less time than it's taking Vail. It's all good if they print me a ticket or pass tomorrow at Stowe. Just reminds me of the three biggest lies joke.

1) I'm not that kinda girl
2) Honey, I promise I won't (censored) in your mouth
3) The check (Epic ski pass) is in the mail

Maybe you memesters can do something with this one

I've seen threads stray in some fantastically weird directions over the years, but not a Vail porno, that's for sure

"WRONG. WE WERE THE VICTIMS! SO WE ELIMINATED THOSE UN-EPIC VENDORS. BUNCH OF LOSERS!"

Oh nice conspiracy theory. This may have legs.
Try calling your TV provider to cancel the service because you're not getting your money's worth and they'll try to up$ell you to a higher tier so you spend even more $. So having a broken RFID chip to force people into using the phone is not that far of a stretch. Yes I am a cynic. Of course the lowest bidder (card printer company) isn't always the cheapest in the long run.
