Now a new problem emerging...
Lack of patrol..more rope ducking.
Iron mtn was covered with people skiing all the closed runs...
No patrol to stop them...

If this goes on for another 3 weeks or so, I wonder if any of the media, that will likely be in Park City for the Sundance Film Festival, might do a piece or two about it?

That's probably the best example of lack of patrol not being able to cover enough terrain to open it, because nothing over there's extreme. Mostly just nice intermediates with a few single blacks mixed in.

Pretty much...
Did run in to one poor patroller..surrounded by people.
Then...i hear this from a genius.
Why cant you stop the ski school from taking the upper lifts..theyre clogging up everything.
This is why aliens dont contact us....

No need to fear. It looks like PCMR's replacement patrollers--from "Mickey's Ski Patrol"--are here in Utah. As seen at Alta. This is a grown man. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Donald Duck should get over here and open 9990 for me…also terrified for when that finally does open and people inevitably duck into Dutch draw. Im sure an avy will trigger there out of bounds, everything is sliding right now.

And for what...2 bucks...

This is the messaging that the Ski Patrol Union wants you to believe.

If it was really only a $2 raise, which frankly $1.50 of that would just be inflation alone by now, this thing would be settled. Vail wouldnt balk at that. The sum of all their other asks must likely be substantial. I imagine their healthcare ask is worth > $2 just by its lonesome.

It's a shame that's permanently closed, it looks positively amazing. I know several people have died in there, but you cant police the entire Wasatch range. It should be beacon/shovel/probe mandatory, and open per conditions, kind of like the Slides at Whiteface. I get it though, Vail has to be litigiously averse.

Its a pretty dangerouse and demanding job.
Its worth the ask.
Or is their reputation worth less?
The family that stayed with me for a week..will never get an epic pass again.
Times that by thousands.....

I just have to say it..even though i work for them now.
This is fucked...its dangerouse..its screwing thousands of people.
And for what...2 bucks...for the most valuable people on the mtn.
What the fuck have we come to.
I think there were three conditions out of 27 that the parties disagree on. Wage is only one. Healthcare and I think full year employment are the others.

You can still get to there from the Peak 5 gate its an easy skin. Also if you hike to the summit and go across the ridge its easy not to be seen and hit some other good stuff then just come back and it would be impossible to prove you ducked rope. You can also get there from Millcreek canyon

And look at what happens without them.
You cannot run a place without them.
And its 7300 acres...
I ran the world trade center with about 100 others...combined its not even 70 acres.
7300...holy shit. This is insane.

I think its a bad look for Vail and the patrollers. Theyre both being ridiculous. Also Vail doesnt want to set that precedent here and have every other patrol team demand the same.

Or have 17% open....
Hmmm
At this point Vail obviously doesn't give af or they would’ve caved. I don’t think the surrounding resorts will be too eager to higher anyone participating in the strike either. Short term the patrollers definitely have the leverage but that won’t last. Plus if they go a full two weeks Vail can evict them from housing and take away all their benefits. They already shut off their passes.
