Did they say what trail it was? If it was during the strike, there really wasn't any "far away" terrain open. The son of my kids' teacher picked the wrong week to have a bad accident at Park City. Punctured lung, fractured vertebrae and a broken rib. Apparently it took patrol right about an hour to get there.
Hope the kid is OK. Was this today, after the strike has been settled ?The son of my kids' teacher picked the wrong week to have a bad accident at Park City. Punctured lung, fractured vertebrae and a broken rib. Apparently it took patrol right about an hour to get there. Gotta wonder if they knew how serious it was. If true, that's a crazy bad response time. Sounds like he'll be okay, but he's still in the hospital out there.
He was skiing the last 1/2 day by himself. So his mom doesn’t know where exactly other than I think Canyons side. Apparently other guests were very helpful. Just glad he's going to be fine, and hopefully doesn't mess up his college semester.Did they say what trail it was? If it was during the strike, there really wasn't any "far away" terrain open.
Of course if it happened somewhere in the trees you never know I guess.
Yup, pretty crazy if true. I'm just third hand info on this one, the girls were very excited to tell me all about it though. I just hope they didn't grill their teacher too much. I know they were trying to figure out where. Do you remember how much was open on the Canyons around New Years? Who knows how many other injuries they were dealing with at the time? I noticed 3 sled required injuries in a very short span of time at Mount Snow over break. An hour???
I can get from canyons to pc side in 26 minutes....
Thats waaay to long!
"I'm speechless!"
Do you remember how much was open on the Canyons around New Years?
Funny thing about Iron Mountain on Saturday. They didn't groom anything except Mercury. But all they had was this little tiny 16x8 sign saying, "no groomed terrain ahead" - which isnt much of a warning. If you skipped Mercury & pass that sign, there's no escape. Not only was it ungroomed, but Double Nickel & Lead Foot had really nice sized moguls the entire length of the trials. People were going down all over. The carnage was particularly severe at the very bottom of the Double Nickel (pictured) which is narrow, steep, and with a tree right in the middle. Total chaos. It was legitimately a Black Diamond that day, but quite comical. People were taking their skis off & walking down.Unless it was iron mountain...thats a schlep.
Its such a huge difference between what I see at Alta and pc.
A bit of powder and some bumps and pc is total carnage.
6 year olds at Alta are bombing chutes....
But...its all good!!
9990 can be a jerry magnet at times but agree about Jupe most people there can shred since its a little harder to get toYeah, it's definitely true lots of places at PC are loaded with beginner & intermediate destination tourists, especially the PC side. But when they open Jupiter you'll see you're not going to find poor skiers there. McConkey's & Super Condor are mostly solid skiers too. It's sort of, "pod specific" if you will.
