This was a pretty good season for new mountains for me.
  • Berkshire East
  • Magic
  • Stowe
  • Snow
and I'll be skiing at Cannon and Loon this weekend which will both be new for me! :D I'm disappointed that I didn't make it to Jiminy or Butternut this year though...

Didn't hit many of those I identified last fall as places "new places" I wanted to visit. Still haven't made it to Burke or Sugarloaf. We did hit Crotched for the first time. We also did a trip to Utah and skied Deer Valley (somewhat dissapointing, though the bathrooms were very nice and lunch was spectacular, albeit pricey), The Canyons, and Alta. Alta was almost a religious experience, so a good year.

I skied four new places this year, two of which I planned in advance:

Camden Snow Bowl
Black Mtn Of Maine
Bretton Woods
Cranmore

Bretton Woods and Cranmore were part of a last minute trip to New Hampshire.

I don't know if skiing the cog railroad counts as an area, is so then I skied 5 new places.

Yep, for all intents and purposes, the cogger is another resort. They have their own website, their own snow-reports which are filed with snocountry, and they require one to take a drive to get to it

The cog railroad was an OKAY ski experience, it's something I did more to please my son than anything else. The key to having fun there is to stay ahead of (cough, cough, I can't see anything) the locomotive. Skiing on snow mixed with locomotive cinders was similar to really late season summer skiing on Mount Hood with volcanic ash in the snow.

Mt. Snow and Loon are probably my 2 least favorite mtns ever. Terrible terrain, long lift lines, and questionable snow (compared to Northern VT).

4 areas

4 new areas this year

Berkshire East - 1st time for me in the Berks, retro trails
Ski Ward - A good never-ever mountain for skiers
Burke - Beautiful scenery, retro trails I like.
Bolton Valley - Where the Burlington locals ski, retro trails

Next year, already:
Magic
Mad River
Butternut

Total discrete ski areas worldwide - somewhere around 40.
