I've skied with the backpack as a habit since I started taking the kids into the woods. It has everything in there. Wallet, keys, phone, drink, snacks, duct tape, tissues, wet wipes, utility gloves, small towel, Chapstick, eye drops, asthma inhaler and alternate goggle lens. As long as I have the backpack, I know I have everything I need.

Nope. But I bike and ski with it so everything pretty much lives in there, except I take the bug spray and bike tools out for the winter.

Yah but you could use the bug spray like mace to move through the liftline, leave it in there. I am pretty sure the panel on the back of the can says "effective against; mosquitos, gnats, flies, gapers, groms, newbies, snowboarders, bed bugs, and other common pests. . ."

I don't usually carry the pack, but someone else I ski with will.
Usually it has water, gatorade, sandwiches made on the car ride up, a fifth or a waterbottle full of whisky, or beer. However, we usually bury the beers in the trees after the first lift ride up- thats too much extra weight!! And only really bring beer when there is a group of us to shoot the shit and relax, otherwise, its just the booze since its easy to carry and goes a long way for 2 people. Its usually reserved for afterwards in the parking lot.
I think the other guy usually brings another pair of gloves to wear, but I only know about the essentials.

Back pack in bounds? It's like a purse...
Everything I need is in my pockets.. It's not a Mount Everest summit attempt...

I generally have only brought my pack when I expected to carry my skis on my back.

You can fit a lot of stuff in your pockets, the only time I wish I had one is shedding/adding layers.

Why would you carry a glass in your pocket?
