Just a glorious day. I kind of went skiing on a lark, almost didnt go. It was a sneaky powder day with fantastic conditions and I just went to McConkey's Express and spent the entire time there lapping that terrain (mostly McConkey's Bowl, Mollys woods, and Black Forest). With a few more feet of snow I'm thinking there will be no more "chicken lines" into McConkey's Bowl, most of it's currently a drop-in entry.

So I skied on 2/27 at Belleayre in 60-degree weather. Nice day of slush bumps but not what I'm looking for in February. Then we get 2 weeks of rain and warmth. I threw my hands up and was ready to call it a season. Spent time organizing my fishing tackle and spooling new line onto all my reels. Did some yardwork. Assumed that the recent snowstorm would underperform or turn into rain. And because I just didn't give a shit anymore we got some good snow! K was almost 100% open and skied great. Good trees and awesome powder bumps.

Guess I'll keep skiing for a while.

Great stretch. Was at Windham today. Belleayre tomorrow maybe and then maybe Gore for another stretch.

Jim I imagine you much more accomplished than I, but sometime we should meet. If we haven't already.

It’s late enough in the season that I dared to ski a dreaded Saturday. Coverage at Gunstock is really impressive considering they’ve been one of the most fucked over mountains in NH this season.

Gore has the most underrated trees in the east.

So underrated I'd dare say most casual people don't even know it has really good tree skiing.
It's a if you know you know. If you don't nobody is talking. Get in with some locals and you learn. Maybe

At day 42. After an enjoyable trip to Tahoe area I'm back in God's country (UT). This past weekend (Mar 16 and 17) featured super clear air and great views at Snowbird. Snow kind of firmish, so I had fun on some carving skis.

It had been three weeks since I skied on a weekend at Snowbird (went to Tahoe, then Las Vegas). The big weekend crowds appear to be over. Parking was plentiful Sat and Sun.

After skiing 14 of the last 16 days I'm beat. Now on to firewood today. And Belleayre tomorrow. Life is good.

Hang in there Dick. You're a good man. Everyday on the slopes is a blessing. Dementia/Alzheimer's runs in my family and that of my wife. We're both ok now, but who knows what the future holds?? Vaya con Dios.

Gorgeous day. Got a bit sticky though so I departed. Needed the spring wax, but we're supposed to get 2 to 2.5 feet over the next week so it can wait.

We have four kids, they all avidly ski even though my wife never did (yup, I did something right!:ROFLMAO:), They find ways to cover for me so I can get out. I won't ski much for a while, but that is what the part about for better or worse, in sickness and in health is all about.

Thanks for the well wishes.

Thursday was my best day of the season. Plenty of untracked snow in trees. Trails all packed powder and powder bumps. Friday was pretty awesome too.

Did a run off of Jupiter and then stuck to McConkey's for some tree runs.
Knee to thigh deep powder in the woods today, which, as per usual, are bizarrely relatively undisturbed. Aint complainin'.
And supposedly 2+ feet more snow coming in the next week.

Was hoping for leftover powder from the 17" storm. Nope.

It was warm both days and raining on Wed. Trees featured sticky, waterlogged mank. Great if you're looking for a real workout. On the flip side snowmaking trails bumped up and skied great. And while it did rain some on Wed, it was mostly not raining when I was skiing 9-11 and 12:30 -2:30. Glad I hung in and kept skiing, the bumps were really nice.
