Killington will operate Thanksgiving to the 1st weekend in April, and a good portion of the businesses on the acces road will be closed because of the newly built, but yet only 40% occupied retail space at village, and still no interconnect

Stowe will by far and away eclipsed Stratton as the "glitzy" resort in the East.

Okemo will be pushing 1,000,000 skier visits with Mount Snow in the 750,000 to 800,000 range.

Magic will have had 6 more owners and still be questionable about will it operate for the next season

Sunday River will be the holder of the longest ski season in the East as Boyne realizes after a few seasons that it economically makes more sense to make some more snow at the River to keep it open longer than to keep Sugarloaf running past the 3rd week in April, and Sunday River will be drawing 800,000 to 900,000 a year.

There will be no new ski resorts that have opened in New England

Stowe eclipsed Stratton as the 'glitzy' resort in the east years ago. Just look at town tax base valuations in the Vermont Equalized Grand List. Stowe is almost 2x any of the other resort towns. Even Okemo has also overtaken Stratton.

Magic has no water. Until they solve that problem, it's not a viable ski area.

Sunday River needs some major road improvements to keep growing skier visits. Les Otten had some years where he ran deep into May back when he was establishing his brand. They have plenty of water to blow a base for May skiing and they're plenty far north to hold snow fairly well.

We'll see what happens with Killington. By accident of geography, it certainly has the most potential. It's easy access from metro-Boston. It's as far as most metro-NYC people are willing to drive. There is train service from NYC to Rutland which could be better exploited in these times of $4.00+/gallon fuel costs. It's at the southern tip of the 250" Vermont snow belt. ASC fixed their water problem with the Woodward Reservoir pipeline and they now have near-infinite water to make snow. With an interconnect to Pico and some intelligent work with a chainsaw to add more intermediate terrain and some intermediate-friendly lifts, they would have more to offer the mass market. At the moment, I doubt a village will happen in the next decade. I think SP Land is going to conclude that their path of least resistance is to sell house lots to rich people since the town really can't stop that.

stratton housing valuation

the town of Stratton is not where the resort or fancy houses are, it would be more accurate to look at the housing valuations in Peru, Londonderry, Jamaica, and Manchester (in both Bennington and Whindham counties) to get an accurate assessment of the value of real estate near stratton Mountain resort.

The town of Stratton is a real nice quiet place.

Blue..Good chance...can't get much worse.

MRG...Will get better because it will stay the same

Hunter...dark horse. If they get owners that the town/community embrace, they might be able to expand

Magic..Has huge upside. If there were odds here and we were in Vegas, I would put my long shot bet on Magic.

Also, I'm not worried about the new terrain being of lower elevation than the rest of the mountain...I think it's like 900' (Base of Gore is 1500'). . . Higher than the base of West, Holiday Valley, Pat's Peak, Sundown, and Sunday River.

Base? 900' is not a heck of a lot lower than the summit of Sundown...

Didnt read the whole thread, but my guess is Cannon. Id be willing to bet that within 5 years its leased out by the state and 5 after that will have it running with better snowmaking, Mittersill fully open with new lifts, etc, etc.
