Since they had signs announcing the policy it is not a mistake. Signs just say it is true for credit cards, not that it is not true for debit cards. But I can tell you I avoided the charge using a debit card.so its cashless, which is corporate wide. Are you saying that at hunter there is an 18% premium to use your credit card vs bank card? that has to be a mistake in the POS system.
I'm confused, are you saying that if I buy a banana they are adding in a 18% tip on that purchase?Since they had signs announcing the policy it is not a mistake. If you use a credit card. It is actually either 18.25 or 18.75 - I forget whichI'm confused, are you saying that if I buy a banana they are adding in a 18% tip on that purchase?
Wow - that is beyond shitty. Still not sure how you avoided it by paying with your debit card, which I am assuming is also a credit card, that just comes out of your bank account. If you use a credit card. It is actually either 18.25 or 18.75 - I forget which
Basically negates the 20% Epic discount
Credit Cards and Debit Cards are often treated differently as they are distinct financial instruments. This policy applies only to credit cards (which are more likely to charge fees to retailers - but more like 1-2% not 18%). If anyone uses a debit card I am sure they will not get socked with this fee.Wow - that is beyond shitty. Automatic tipping in a self-serve cafeteria? That really shouldn't even be legal...
Don't assume those tips necessarily all go to employees. That's how you get the local high school cafeteria employee to join team Vail.
Are you sure the 18% is only for the bar and not food?Annoying that Hunter food is cash only and adds over 18% tip to any credit card purchases.
Bring your debit card
For food at cafeteria. I do not drink at ski areas. Are you sure the 18% is only for the bar and not food?
When I buy there I say "NO TIP", if they run it with the tip, I wouldn't sign the slip. And while I'm waiting for the manager I'd eat/drink it all. It's against the law to add a tip without your approval. Unless of course they have it posted. If that's the case then I just wouldn't buy anything and would let management know it.
This amounts to a fee for using a credit card not a tip. The only other option is using a debit card. There is no law against this.If it's a self serve checkout there has to be an option for no tip, they just have it default to 18% and you have no switch it to no tip.
