To anyone who isn't looking for a place to grind their ax, these all sound like things that Leitner-Poma takes partial, if not majority responsibility for.
The bumpers are on chair lifts all over the world. The folks at Hunter just complain more than others I guess. Social media certainly aids in getting their opinion out there. They just weren't used to them yet....could save a kid. Now they think if they complain enough management will just listen....

I do agree on the stair issue, and I have heard, not sure if true, that they plan on fixing it. I just found a workaround, and there are several.....

Now the sticky snow guns that were in full force yesterday are another story. I saw 3 face plants on the one at the bottom of the terrain park on the way to the six pack yesterday! An acquaintance broke his leg last week on one!

not even close.....Check out the Hunter Ski Bums Facebook page.

I just note facts, general opinion, and if it is a rumer I always say so.

Clairs looked very ugly yesterday. Later found out there was some sort of water leakage issue that turned it into a sheet of ice.

It was open today. I asked a patroller about it and he said it was "skiable". I opted out.

so - deciding to go or not to Hunter today due do possible wind issues, Just checked the site - 0 trails are open, but I see the B lift running. Coincidentally the base cam is now the East Cam, and the East Cam is also the East Cam.

Hmmm. Why no base cam for the flyer and 0 trails open... The site was not accurate yesterday also, but the snow was good, only skied for a couple of hours. Heard a rumer that they were going to start to blow on Racers today.

anyone know what is going on??

all CAMs working for me and both lifts, blowing on Racers
just looked and fixed now.
Trent is really trying...for sure. He has to deal with corporate...

Intel says Vail is worried - the metropolitan area bought about 1/4 off EPIC passes historically since they bought peak. With the last year issues in the NE (Hunter, Wildcat etc.), people are getting disgruntled and worried about future union strikes distupting their large resort vacations. If they lose pass holders the stockholders will not be happy. Stock price has been dropping for years.

There's thousands of words of vitriol directed towards everything Hunter in this thread (the ownership, of course; the management, the conditions, the grooming/snowmaking, the crowds...ad infinitum.) So it seems only fair to leaven things with a couple words of praise for some decisions they're making lately. The place is well-covered, skiing very nicely right now, and that was already the case before Sunday's snowstorm. Most of the mountain is open (has Lower K ever been open by mid-January in the Vail era? It was good fun this morning). They've made a ton of snow over the past 2 1/2 weeks or so. Guns were back on this afternoon on several key main trails - making hay while the sun shines (or the cold blows), as they should.

In fact, they were also blowing snow on the friggin' Highlands this afternoon😯 That hasn't happened in years. If that's any reflection of intent - that they're spending money on third and fourth tier trails - then I feel more optimistic about making turns on Annapurna and/or Westway this year.
Give Trent a damn medal for whatever he's said to sway the Broomfield beancounters. Or at least buy him a beer.
